That's what I've had to do anytime I feel like listening to something other than the BGM ^^
It seems idiotic they cant just add the weather to the SFX hence creating a FULL mute option -.-
Edit*
Im sure this will be down to some server issues or something lol
I *hope* they get this solved before PS3 release. Mute is standard right?
/faceplam for simplicity of thread.

Ambients is the word you were looking for and I agree, I have everything turned down to 35% with BGM at 70% and the Ambients of strms and such drowns out my mumble.

Thank you. w/e people deem the annoying back ground stuff that can't currently be muted - I'd just be glad to see a full mute option. Especially for the console version.
this damn event music makes me wanna commit suicide. No matter where i go i get barraged w/ this not so summery racket of noise. It doesnt even fit well into the game.
Lol, I love being in mumble and its like "Hey Keith!" (Sandstorm kicks up) "Pssssh Psssh Swooosh R21... Psssh hour swooosh?" and I'm like "What? ; ;"

I totally agree, and yay if it comes in 1.19.
I sometimes stream movies or listen to music while playing, depending on what I'm doing... Since often, the stream is at a lower volume, I have to turn my system volume way up. Then I turn the audio options in FFXIV down to make it all work well.
Goes great, except that Wind, Rain, Birds and crickets in Grid, and Doors all stay super loud. It's a minor issue, but it's still one I'd like to see fixed. :P
Ingame ---> Menu ---> Sound ---> click on each bar to go all the away down
Or
Window 7 --> click --> Mute FFXIV i don't know i think W7 it quicker then just having it ingame lol.

Both changing audio in the game or in Windows 7 take the same time, so...
Anyway, I know your concern. There's people who like to play Fullscreen and can't switch back and forth to Windows in order to change audio settings.
I believe they're fixing this so don't worry!
