Parsers might make it easier to spot people not playing their jobs right, but the lack of a parser doesn't mean someone won't call you on playing your job poorly. If you're going to be ignorant of your party's time, don't expect to be treated nicely in return.

I had two DRGs in my World of Darkness last night that basically fit this. Both weren't dodging any mechanics, one of them literally wasn't even targeting, but had his weapon out and would run a line along the boss every few seconds. The other, when we called him on not dodging, barely using any weaponskills, even putting up buffs/combos/DoTs in the first place, hit my party with, "I'm sorry I have a life." "Excuse me for eating these chips and salsa."

And this isn't the first time I've asked someone to use Foe's, or maintain/use their buffs and gotten shitty attitudes in response. So I think you ought to reconsider exactly who you think you're blaming for poor attitudes here, because from my overall experience, it's the other way around.

Overused image, but describes the kinds of players you met quite well.

    Hi, sorry for interruption.

IMHO, I don't really agree with parser, this game is really good for how it was, parser will make community more toxic.
There is a lot of good player who follow mechanic out there, most of them are FF fan and not have any experience with other mmo's.
We don't need you to bring other mmo's style or influence here, and btw it's just a game why so serious?

I love doing RPG and content in this game with my friends.
Game is to be enjoyed, if you want to find something that you can compare who's is better, do it in real life, much worth it.

You're the perfect depiction of the picture above.

Granted a game is meant to be enjoyed but.... Do you enjoy being bad at it ?

I believe a parser would be an especially useful tool, not to put other less efficient players down, but, for example in progression context just to know more about the DPS and what needs to improve to meet the requirement of the newest content/find the "weak link".

Here's my take on parsing personally. Everyone pay's for this game monthly, you pay month by month. In 30 day you should be able to make notable progression, whether it be light raiding or hardcore raiding what have you. Parsing numbers helps maximize your play time because you don't waste time trying to figure out your rotation on looks alone. You break it down in numbers so you can see where you are weak at in terms of your actual rotation. In that regard you then take those fundamentals and apply them to raid mechanics. You reduce your marginal error and therefore maximize your numbers in combat, in doing so you reduce your own chances of wiping. Meaning less time wiping in raids = Time well spent.

Yeap maybe yes and maybe not. I move to this game because I want chill type of playstyle, that's the reason I pay for this game so far with the low sub community on it. I'm not sure this game has reached 1m subscriber or not.
The game itself is good, all I see is everyone doing great.

"Do you enjoy being bad at it ?" Yes, because I will improve from time to time with my friend, no need parser tool to improve.
Everyone start from bad to good that how it goes, this game have a proper learning curve on it.
If parser tool is available even for normal dungeon will be hard for new player to PUG, Elitism will be keep complaining.

From my point of view, there is no need to monitor everyone score if you with your friends or FC, everyone know what thy're doing and not to let their friend down, unless if you're always doing with stranger.

I believe PC player can access to this tool, go ask them with dummies. end of stories.

I am for a personal DPS meter that only you see. It personally hurts me to see people that do exactly 0 dps. I met em in T9 (Imagine a scholar going FULL dps at heavensfall to be able to push the phase in last second before the 3rd heavensfall because a monk (!!!! yes monk !!!!) adds exactly 0 dps to the team) or I had even dungeon runs where you meet ppl that can do nothing to contribute to dps needed. I had a WP HM lately where I had to chase as tank those spears at first boss beacuse dps was low and i ran out of space at final boss D:
I am against the open viewable DPS meters because ppl would start to insult each other even more than they do now but if you yourself see that your contribution is none you will start to try to improve.
Friends will get my friendly hint randoms.... well lets say on a 8 man party I may go hmmm somewhere we lack dps.
I am on Playstation and I would even when playing on PC not use a parser because point 1 gainst ToS and point 2 fun > being top off on sth. But id srsly enjoy possibility to see my personal crap dps (y I main tank heal :P) and mby find ways to improve it.

But if we had a parser and people got better, it would be much harder to sell Odin runs for 500k each.

Stop trying to hurt my profits.

Yah ultimately a parser would just be used by ignorant players to boot people that can't pull their dps up to the level said players want to see. At some stages that makes logical sense but why would SE implement something that would further frustrate players trying to learn their roles and lead to more unsubbers. Makes sense why they don't do it.
That said I like to think that the threat numbers dictate a little of what my damage is on any encounter. Say if during a boss battle I climb to 2 on the threat chart and then pull off to burn adds and then go back to the boss at a 6, and then returning to 2 over the course of a minute or two, I like to think that I'm putting out some solid damage numbers. That's my thought on it anyway
