    In-Game Parser.

Alright I know this has been said a lot but I think it needs more attention.

As we grow closer and closer to the games first expansion, I think introducing an ingame parser that is standard for all platforms with the launch of Heavensward is the perfect time for it.

Let's face it. At this point, the only thing not having this in-game is doing, is hurting the playerbase.
It makes a lot of people spread misinformation because they think something that isn't true because they couldn't actually see any info on:
-How much they healed during the fight
-How much damage they did during the fight.
-Average damage per second during the fight.

For a game that has a DPS check in majority of its encounters, this is a silly thing to not have.

Even more so when the game is on 3 separate platforms. So with this you get only some PC players who are able to see this information, and then a huge chunk of the rest of the games playerbase who has no access to any of that information.

Now I want to say, why would the expansion be the best time to implement this?
Because with this, players will get to see their power levels rise as they level 50-60, and then 60 onwards while gearing up.

Sure, now we see bigger numbers with better gear, or we can feel that increase in our GCD with more spell/skill speed.
But with an ingame parser, we will be able to see, "Hey at level 52 I was doing xxx damage. Now that I'm level 60 I'm doing xxx damage."
We still obviously see our actual attacks hit higher, but with a parser we get to see a more accurate representation of your damage output on any given fight.

Just because your attacks may hit for 1.9k doesn't mean you're doing good damage on the fight and this is what leads to players thinking they're doing the rotation well but they aren't.

The game would only benefit from this. Let's make it happen.

Yoshi P himself said this would never be in the game as it would seem like SE is justifying chastising someone based on numbers. I'm all for parsers in game, but when the man says it'll never happen, it's never going to happen. He didn't even leave it open ended for a future possibility.

SE could do like some other games, and introduce target dummies with much higher health pools, and people can compare their results with others bases on their Time-to-Kill (TTK). Now, people who use parsers will be the first ones to figure how much HP said dummy has, and once that is done, anyone on any platform can time themselves killing said dummy, and figure out their own dps based on the TTK. SE will likely never implement a parser themselves for actual combat use, but I have complete faith that they will give us better tools in Heavensward

they said they were considering a parser (possibly on the striking dummies) but only for your own DPS readouts because they feel too many elitists would ruin the game for others if they made an official parser that sees everyones DPS. so unless being able to only parse your own DPS is what you want I wouldn't count on it happening.

    /supporting official ingame parser.

A parser should be a mandatory starting point for any player (and later a well needed friendly tool), it could show your weakness and force yourself on self-improvement against various enemies during your learning path.
The way you will dodge in X fight or learn to coordinate your movements will then be based on the training you dedicated to your DPS, so you better start with solid bases.

Keep in mind that parsers are not cheating tools, a parser will not do the work for you, it doesn't think, it will not teach you how to dodge, it will not tell you when using a specific CD at a precise moment, it doesn't forgive your mistakes.
It will just show you a possible weak spot within your gameplay in order to solve it by your own.

If there was no DPS check fights in FFXIV, I would say... As long that your rotation is correct and you do fine with dodging / movements, we could be like "eh, who care, let's keep it this way"
But that's not the case, FCOB and some other trials proved once again that tight DPS check fights are a strong and important point when the DEVs are actually designing contents. A parser is a necessity in your learning progression for them.

I wonder how many more threads regarding this, SE will lock becvause they just arent productive.
One side hates parsers, the other side wants them and its almost a 50/50 either way. So basically its deadlock.

Even if some part of Yoshi, agrees with it.. He just cannot full condone, or allow it to happen.

He did mention the dummy thing, but thats as far you MAY get.. I never will have hopes for them to make an actual parser for players to use.

Dead horse anyone? The feed back has been on the forums already and if they are going to listen to it they already have.

All the threads degrade to is the pro parser people explaining how useful they are AND how if there are harrassment issues they should be taken care of through already existing channels AND that the harrassment exists regardless of parsers AND that trying to improve without a parser is like trying to play darts with the lights off AND give anecdotal examples to counter the anti parser groups anecdotal examples AND... Shall I go on? Then you have a bunch of anti parser people covering their ears yelling "lalalala I can't hear you... But harrassment! (As if that already want addressed)"

I'm sure I'm oversimplifying the argument and interjecting my bias somewhere above. But that's the gist of it. If SE wants to do something they already have the opinions of the vocal players on the forums (hardly representative of the vast majority)
