It may have just been bad luck though, I'll give you that. In any case, I think this is one of those situations where preventing the fact from happening in the first place is better than dealing with it afterwards, especially if the price to pay is only a little inconvenience for console players (who, in most cases, can always ask a friend who plays on PC).

Protecting players from harasment is far more important, I don't care if it makes it harder to see how much damage you are dealing.

Parsers might make it easier to spot people not playing their jobs right, but the lack of a parser doesn't mean someone won't call you on playing your job poorly. If you're going to be ignorant of your party's time, don't expect to be treated nicely in return.
I had two DRGs in my World of Darkness last night that basically fit this. Both weren't dodging any mechanics, one of them literally wasn't even targeting, but had his weapon out and would run a line along the boss every few seconds. The other, when we called him on not dodging, barely using any weaponskills, even putting up buffs/combos/DoTs in the first place, hit my party with, "I'm sorry I have a life." "Excuse me for eating these chips and salsa."
And this isn't the first time I've asked someone to use Foe's, or maintain/use their buffs and gotten shitty attitudes in response. So I think you ought to reconsider exactly who you think you're blaming for poor attitudes here, because from my overall experience, it's the other way around.

Overused image, but describes the kinds of players you met quite well.
Now read its meaning and see how it doesn't apply to the quote you used it on.I do know what it means. And since you ask, I'll answer:
- a person having, thought to have, or professing superior intellect or talent, power, wealth, or membership in the upper echelons of society:
- a person who believes in the superiority of an elitist class
Now, with that answered and out of the way, let's be clear . . . We already have the tools - we're already using them - and we can do so without trying to pressure SE to officially endorse something into the game that can and will be misused by a bunch of trolls. We're making a bigger deal out of this parser subject than it already is. In fact it's no big deal at all. We already have awesome parsers out there that do the job quite well - I personally use Advanced Combat Tracker and it works beautifully.
I understand the OP asking a small question about getting a parser in-game . . . and the devs have already made their intentions not to VERY well known . . . and instead of just going "okay" and continuing to use the tools we already have, this thread is blowing the issue into some crazed controversy that makes it sound almost game breaking. It's not. We already HAVE the tools. If people can't be bothered to take 12 seconds to download and double click an icon to parse then those people are absolutely NOT serious about parsing - and are thus really just trolling SE for the sake of trolling.
And how is he intending to troll ? Because he wants to voice his opinion about a particular topic on a forum which main purpose is doing just that ? The thread reaching that many pages means there are still plenty of people left with opinion on the matter. Don't like it, then don't enter the thread. It's that simple.

Well, the good news is that the Devs have reinforced their standing that there will not be an in-game parser and this is the best solution, and since there are so many endless avenues for people to get access to parsing if they really want it, it's pretty much case closed and issues solved
And I am with Dwill on this one - why have a rankign system? That won;t help people improve - all that will do is bring out the trolls and promote competition among the team that may actually lead to situations that break down the team. The IMPORTANT part is that the team works together and gets through it together. We're on the same side, so why turn that into a "who's best contest"? If people want that they can go PvP and kill each other all they want to see who does the most pew pew.Pretty much. In dungeons, speed is everything so whatever Rank System you would introduced would mean nothing and in raids, there is always at least a person running a parser so again, irrelevant. Let's not forget the fact that it would be a convoluted mess to decide on which metric each roles would be ranked on.

Make it like a RESIDENT EVIL game or something.
At the end of the dungeon you are scored with a rating the developers think you should be at. It's up to you if you want to share the score with others if you feel embarrassed about not doing well.
S rating to E.
I think it would only encourage players to get better. To strive for that rank at the end. It would also be cool to get extra exp and gil if you score S rank or whatever.

What are you smoking? No one cares about being ranked in dungeons they have to farm over and over again. They're just speed running for zodiac/tomes, ergo ranks don't mean jack squat. And how the heck do you get scored? Kills? Heals? Not dying?Make it like a RESIDENT EVIL game or something.
