As a healer I gotta say . . . if I am parsing and i see a DPS getting low numbers, but another DPS keeps getting killed due to his inability to listen to instruction, dodge mechanics and follow the strategy - hey the guy with low numbers is welcome anytime. He's probably actually doing better than the guy laying there on the ground waiting for me to res him for the 5th time . . .
Not agreeing or disagreeing with you - I just wanted to expand on your thought. Plenty of DPS do get called out though for just this reason - getting killed for stupid things is the ultimate in DPS loss, and no one ever needs a parser to figure that one out. in the groups I go along with, all three jobs seem to get an equal amount of thrashings from the raid leader due to how they are performing as a teammate.
however, in most PUG groups made by the DF, unfortunately, the point you make seems to be all too common an occurrence.

What people dont understand is that, NOT having parsers of some sort is already separating players. even without parser some players can clearly see the lack of dps on some others and pc players will sometime share the informations within the team or their friends. making it hard to invite those who are known to make very low damage. except if they are really nice people, if you have the option to invite them , you would rather get one who is trying to make his job correctly.
Those who can t parse their data and have no clue how to boost themselfs will just be left behind in the end, and this is bad because they have no way to get better or to know they are doing bad.
You all say parser will make people act like elistists etc etc and separate player base , this is wrong. really, dds in this game are the only ones who can hide their mistakes, tank can t , healers can t , but dds they can and this is bad.
We dont necessarly need numbers, but some indicator would be nice , like a color indicator : yellow bad , orange medium , red super dps ! smthing like that i dont know..

I dont understand why we dont have a built in parser already. How are we supposed to improve if we dont know we suck?
I am so sick of this game catering to new players treating them like they are monkies and cant think for themselves
I always imagine SE's voice
"aaaw he's playing his first mmorpg. I hope he can click one skill every 2.5 seconds or maybe thats not enough time to think.
And aaw no you cant see the players dps cause if they suck they are better off not knowing"
A parser would do good. If you are trying for a kill in a primal you would see if someone dont deal enough damage and either teach that person or get a new player.
I mean if I waste 50 min trying to find a group to beat something and this one guy that deals 50% less dps makes us fail. Then the parser will tell me whos holding my group back and I think if we could see stuff lile that the success rate of PF kill groups would probably be higher.
It's strange that so many people seem to think they know they're doing fine on a DD job without actually having seen a single parse of themselves. The truth is, you can not know. There is more to playing a DD job than reading up on the optimal rotation (that someone else has parsed, mind you) and then trying to copy it. It's also, for example, about small differences between two DDs doing the same rotation but handling mechanics a bit differently, and even things such as how they push their buttons (do they queue all their abilities). Without a parser, looking at two DDs who seem to be doing the same things in same order doesn't tell anyone anything about their actual damage, and there can be a huge difference between the two. Simply knowing the optimal rotation does not make anyone a good DD in practice.

Not having parsers available for all platforms (PC/PS3/PS4) was the biggest mistake SE has made for this game. It gives yet another unfair advantage to PC players (on top of all the other stuff like Guildworks, Radar, ACT triggers, faster load times, etc) when said platform already has a pretty big field advantage from the get go.
Faster load times are unfair in your opinion? Really? Not having parsers available for all platforms (PC/PS3/PS4) was the biggest mistake SE has made for this game. It gives yet another unfair advantage to PC players (on top of all the other stuff like Guildworks, Radar, ACT triggers, faster load times, etc) when said platform already has a pretty big field advantage from the get go.
I suppose everyone should run like they're on a PS3 then. Nevermind taking advantage of the hardware some people have on their PCs, or the hardware on the PS4.

I am a PC player with a high end rig utilizing an SSD. You cannot say that loading faster is not an advantage when hunts are so popular that marks die within 30 seconds of being announced.
It's an advantage, but it's not unfair.
That FFXIV is available on PC at all means that various computer setups are expected.
How miserable do you think any PC gaming experience would be, if every game developer catered to the lowest common denominator? Why buy more expensive hardware at all?
Not needed. This would only feed the min-maxing trolls and give people another excuse to argue on the forums with stupid posts like "WHM vs SCH: Why is WHM Lacking?" or "SMN is Broken."
Furthermore, the first time someone gets flamed because their DPS wass off 3% from what it "should have been" or they arent allowed to join a party because "you'll never hit 40k dmg/min, with that setup" you may as well board up the server becasue only the elitist cheesedi**s will contiue to play in that environment.
