    Best Job?

Was wondering if anyone could contribute some suggestions on which job I should undertake as far as crafter/gatherer. I was thinking carpenter cuz it seems you could do so much with weapons. Maybe blacksmith for gear or leather worker.

Just don't want to start levelling a job and think "oops".

Remember it will be my first one so looking for the core, most useful at this point in the game, that will save me the most Gil lol.

Honestly with crafting you're best to start out with weaver and carpenter because they have arguably the best cross class abilities and getting those 2 level 50 abilities will make it vastly easier to level up your other crafts. In terms of best craft overall, you basically need all your crafts at max level to guarantee the best results and the actual best craft to make profit varies quite significantly.

In short, there is no best craft and if you want to be successful in crafting you should level them all to max level in order to gain access to respective level 50 cross class abilities needed for HQing.

Something else to consider is leveling a gathering. For CRP you would want Botanist. At first it won't be an issue, but once you get higher level, you will spend a fortune on mats.

I'd say your first priority should be to get all the crafting classes to 15, which will give you a good variety of cross over skills. This shouldn't be extremely difficult, as you can get all the materials pretty cheap from the NPC merchants (check city and housing ward merchants). Also, be sure to make friends with the various beast tribes, as the beast merchants sell a some higher grade materials that aren't available from the town or housing merchants.

Oh, and be sure to look into desynth, as soon as it is available to you. It's always a viable option to buy up the cheap surplus from the market board (when you can afford it), and either use or sell the materials you get from breaking everything down.

    Here's a question...

What do you want to do with your crafting classes? Repair, save gil, make gil?

The order of what needs to be done changes depending on what you want from your character :P

id recommend leveling them all equally in 5's that way ur using the same level materials etc and gettin a whole range of cross skills at the specific levels another alternative is levelin gathering fish so u have supply of materials when u decide to start working on crafting

It depend on how seriously you want to do as a crafter. Carpentry is hardly used unless its for housing.

If you dont feel like leveling up a gatherer class then I suggest leatherworking. the mats you need can be gotten by killing off mobs and its a pretty good money maker since most gear needs leather/weaver.

But as other's said level most to 15 cross classes and it'll be very helpful if you have a high level gatherer
