You may want to try this:
Anticipate/Prepare where the add would spawn. Then use Tomahawk > Provoke < Tomahawk > (Move close to add) Brutal Swing > then use you 123 Enmity Combo as well as your defensive cooldown (Thrill of the Battle or Vengeance)

Good God no. DPS are going to be on that add seconds after it spawns and Tomahawk isn't going to keep threat for more than half a second when your BLM shits out a 2-4k Fire III/Flare on it. Prep a Butcher's Block, animation cancel it with Brutal Swing, and Tomahawk for supplemental threat as you move to the position where you're going to tank it.
These adds aggro EXTREMELY fast ? no, these aggros immediately XD

Due to us getting deep into the fight every time and the limited amount of experiment time I had work with (probably 3 sets) I only got to test my targeting change. Hardwiring didn't do anything, by the by.
It had an extremely minimal effect, my success rate went from maybe 98% to 98.5%, and the rate at which I tag the add without it moving remained the same. I haven't had a chance to try using Flash on the adds, but on one particular add the WHM used Cure3 with Medica II going, and a single Skull Sunder was NOT enough to take hate. I had to Tomahawk to get it. So I'm thinking that with Flash being less enmity than a combo'd SS, you are in dangerous territory. I will test further on Sunday, since we didn't clear (uhg, less than 1% on 3 separate pulls).
WHMs just need to chill on the heals until the add is claimed.
We had major issues with our WHM pulling hate because they were worried about healing the raid from Megaflare or Rage of Bahamut, but there is zero raid damage for a good 10 seconds until after the adds spawn, so they can leave the raid at 20-50% until the add hate is established.

Yeah my WHM is freakin' amazing so I try not to tell him what to do ever, but he is popping a CureIII (like I said) right after that. He said its part of the healing rotation (he plans out his heals in each phase to the GCD sometimes). I just watched a collision video and had suggested the same thing last night. I am going to mention it again because the Collision video showed people sitting at 2000-4000 hp and the adds never moved. We had major issues with our WHM pulling hate because they were worried about healing the raid from Megaflare or Rage of Bahamut, but there is zero raid damage for a good 10 seconds until after the adds spawn, so they can leave the raid at 20-50% until the add hate is established.
^that ;D. after rage of bahamut there no more AOE damage until he's done casting flare star (like SirTaint said you have a good while there.)WHMs just need to chill on the heals until the add is claimed.

Gotta 2nd, 3rd, and 4th this. It's the natural WHM reaction to do a M2 or C3 immediately after major damage, and in this case, it's completely unnecessary and quite dangerous.WHMs just need to chill on the heals until the add is claimed.

Flash as soon as the name appears, then SS in combo or OP iy you don't have the combo. The add should remain where he spawns and the mt should move the boss
What works for me is: skull sunder "canceled" into bloodbath/convalescence/bloodbath (add 1/2/3 respectivily).
I think the bigger advantage when picking them up is target them as soon as you see the circle. Due to latency in this game, stuff spawns a fraction of a second earlier than you can see them. I've got a "nearest target" button, so this works awesomely for me.
Another one I've heard and tried (I don't like it, but it does work): steel cyclone. I'd cancel it the same way I explained earlier.
By the way, check if your healer is casting anything after giga/rage hits. There is enough time for medica II after you pick up the add. Healers should be on OT/MT since they get massive dmg. The group can be dealth with a few seconds later.
Try it out![]()
