I have a feeling that the current relic will come to an end, not just because they have mentioned it before, but because making it so that all players start out fresh on a new relic quest on even footing seems to be the fairest way to do things.

Now a lot of people don't want all their time and effort they put into something to have been cast aside when the expansion goes live, however that is the nature of games of this type.

Relic came already to an end since last quest step. You give up your Relic weapon to get a Zodiac weapon. I'm sure in 3.0 we will upgrade the Zodiac weapon to another legendary weapon set.

Why would a quest take a lvl 50 weapon and upgrade it to a lvl 60 one? Why not just give players a fresh one?

Also, as I understand it, the zodiac weapon is supposed to be the fully upgraded version of the relic weapon. It isn't a new weapon. Just one that is completed the total upgrade process.

Give the ability to customize secondary stats every time you want from an NPC completely free if you've done the old relic grind. If you haven't your new relic will have fixed stats. It's a bonus that would definitely make the cut for me. Players that went through the horrid old grind must have some sort of bonus, nothing game breaking like some dude suggested above (5-10 ilevels more is a no), just a slight bonus...but please, nothing vanity related, lately, I feel like I'm playing more FFXIV a glamour reborn (ex primals = vanity, odin = vanity, ultros and typhon = minion = vanity, gilgamesh = vanity, seriously, stop this SE...).

Nope, Zodiac is actually a new weapon. You go through the entire process of gathering materials to create a new base host. Crafting Zodiac is akin to killing the Chimera and the hardmode primals to get crafting materials just to start the weapon off. Relic weapon gets busted down into materia for the crafting process.

As for how we could go about converting the zodiac to level 60, I expect it will either simply level with the job, or a quest that becomes available after we complete our level 60 job quest. Since SE just came out with new weapon designs and names for the zodiacs, I highly doubt they're going to immediately brush them aside without a lengthy upgrade quest line.

mostly because it's your weapon, it was forged, reforged, upgraded, nothing forbid them to change it more and more. the relic is like the ultimate weapon of your jobs. it will be sad to simply start a new quest when we have already one there. it will be great if they do this.

an important point, the new player can simply get the weapon from raid or dungeon, i feel the relic must always continue, it will be a choice for the player to do it or not. it will long and tedious, but it will be an amazing way to add a feeling of progression inside your jobs outside the level up throught the relic weapon.

I don't see how that's fair at all, really. It completely invalidates the time we've spent on the relics. It should be used to help start you out, just like having the previous raid's gear helps you progress into the new one faster than those that come later and are buying theirs with tomes. Gear doesn't become obsolete in one fell swoop.

They turned your relic weapon into materia and infused the Zodiac weapon with it.

    A) Old gear always gets invalidated by the newer gear. This is how things work. Just like in your example, the old raid gear gets replaced by the new raid gear.
    B) This isn't one fell swoop also. This is an additional 10 levels, plus who knows what trail/tome/crafted/raid gear later.

It is fair as it allows all players to start off on the same footing. Whereas not making a brand new relic forces them to either create some type of catch up quest or forces them to nerf the entire previous relic to the ground so that players whom didn't complete the 2.0 relic, for whatever reason, can catch up.

No it isn't fair...why should new players be on the same footing with players who have been playing longer? ...might aswell just boost all new players to max level and give them all end game gear aswell...if you join an mmo that has already been running for a considerable amount of time you have to expect to start at the bottom and work your way up, otherwise what's the bloody point

this ^ there will be some sort of mechanic added to help players catch up with older content giving a nerf n mayb even a lower ilvl requirement and as for the older dungeons players will still do them even if its only via roulette etcbut guarantee when 3.0 comes around every single player wont be even stevens so to speak
