^^^ This, all the way.Psychopathic children who weren't hugged enough? I'm baffled as well. It blows my mind that someone is so small that they have to act out in such a way to feel fulfilled. I guess most people just feel fulfilled in their normal lives and so escaping into this "world" isn't so much a way to compensate as just a way to relax and have fun. If you don't have much to live for, and you're desperate for attention, this is one small way, albeit negative, to get it. I had a roommate like this once, he was desperate for attention so he acted out, got drunk, acted like a fool. He didn't care that it was negative attention, he just wanted attention. I think it has something to do with the way you were raised. If you don't progress past a point of maturity, it's hard to ever progress past that point.
The solution is to hang back and allow him to pull early, let him die, then when it resets you pull the fight normally and do it with one less DD, lol
People will be people, but there should be mechanisms in place to prevent things like this.
1) As you mentioned, there needs to be some sort of thing in place to prevent kicked players from instantly rejoining the group they were just kicked from. I understand that the vote kick feature itself can be used to wrongly kick someone out, but just like with other questionable features that have been implemented (ilvl requirement, 3 missed queues = DF lock out, withdraw from duty = DF lock out, etc.) these systems DO support the overall greater good of the playerbase.
2) The whole trade-cancel teleport harassment thing is a complete an utter joke. Why this even exists is beyond me.
3) Blacklisting someone does not prevent them from harassing you in ways other than speech. Not only that, you can't even blacklist someone in duty because they probably aren't even registered on your server.
I mean this is just a short list of the many things that need to be addressed. SE needs to step up their game in combating this sort of unnecessary behavior.
There was a bard the other night that started begging for us to kick him, after the second boss, because the piece he wanted didn't drop. I said no, we're not kicking you, but you can leave and take the penalty. Oh boy, did the childish ranting come out. He tells us, fine then I'll just stand around AFK and do nothing the whole time until you kick me.
Sometimes I honestly wonder if I'm playing this game with 13 year olds based on "me, me, me" mentality and the childish behavior I see.
See I was farming the same piece (body piece) and not once did I leave or half ass my job if it didn't drop. And believe me, it took AWHILE (like 15+ runs & none were in progress). I really don't get that behavior, if you have decided to farm it then accept the fact you're going to probably be at it for awhile so suck it up and stay. No one is making you run it constantly, that's your choice so don't punish the party by being a sore loser. Glad you didn't boot the guy lol
The plus side for me staying though, almost finished farming Light for my Novus ^_^b haha
Well, then the childish behavior was rewarded. Because someone else in the party initiated a vote kick, and while I voted no, I was outvoted, because he got kicked. So, he ended up getting away with it which was frustrating.
That is the saddest thing about this entire thing. Its not kids acting like kids, its a bunch of well aged individuals acting like kids.
I wouldn't mind having a disclaimer appear when the duty finder comes up saying intentional AFK'ing may result in a loss of 3 weekly lockouts if reported and found guilty.
Sounds like a perfect opportunity to report someone and have it count for more, since they said in the chat log they were going to do something thats prob against the ToS and then they did it. I don't report people much, but the times I have it was either for flat out racist speech in alliance chat or someone intentionally wasting everyone's time in a way that can be objectively proven. There are some people like that, on very rare occasion, where it's not just a matter of me disliking them, but goes far enough that I think we'd be better off not having them in the game, and that's SE's decision and not mine, but if there's information that might help them reach that conclusion I'm happy to share.
If someone logs into a trial fight and just stands there to leech the rewards for example, can't objectively prove anything like an emergency didn't make them have to AFK. But if they're walking around doing /laugh, /wave, /sit, etc while the rest of the people do the work, that at least shows it's intentional (and it's probably not like they woke up that day and decided to be a total troll for the first time in their life so they probably have prior reports on their account which I hope get taken into account with each new one but who knows). It might be my imagination but the two or three times a randomly composed party from DF and I agreed we were going to report someone after the instance, seems like the response came back a lot quicker and I wonder if someone getting reported by a lot of users from different servers at once, for the same violation, sets off an alarm- but that's just conjecture on my part.
Oh, I did. I responded to him that I would report it. His response was that he would lie and claim that it was an internet/game connection issue. Right at that point, is where another member of the alliance initiated a vote kick that went through.
dont they have tools to check chat logs anyways so he would of still been found out no matter what his excuse was :P trolls just wanna see the world burn cause got nothin better to do with thier lives
