My biggest question is how they plan to handle skills and cross-classing (CC). At the moment job-specific skills can't be cross-classed. The only ones we can access are base-class abilities, but if there's no base class then technically EVERY skill is a job skill. Will this mean the new jobs simply won't have CC skills on them?

Another query I have is what about equipping CC skills? Early in levelling, jobs don't have access to a wide variety of CC skills. Anyone who's been level synched as a Warrior knows how painful it is to lose all of your defensive capabilities in one swoop, whilst the same level Marauder would have access to Convalescence, Provoke and Flash as an example.

Will these new 'jobs' have a wider variety of cross-class skills available than regular jobs, or will it simply be unable to CC well at low levels? The latter could be rather annoying to level through, unless they do something really special with the jobs.

I'm guessing that all future jobs will be standalone, but will only get crossclass skills from the base jobs. Which is also why I speculate Machinist will cross with ARC and ROG, getting access to, at a minimum, raging strikes, quelling strikes, venomous shot, and goad.
This would make all future classes easier to balance since they'd all draw from the same pool of basic abilities.

Isn't that pretty much what we already have with classes to job progression? I'm betting they'll just remove it all and make 1 weapon = 1 role (call it class, job, whatever).

This discussion got me thinking that it would be cool to see the new jobs having more utility to make up the possible lack of cross-class. I'm seeing two scenarios.

    1. Even though the new jobs will not be a class -> job thing, it'll still have a cross class function, just for the sake of utility.

    2. The jobs will have their own animations, but have the same effect as a similar class. e.g. Astrologian will have a skill similar to Cleric Stance, but with their own animation relating to their job. And with that, we may be able to gain more unique skills down the line of the job from lv.1 to be up to par with a job that has cross-class skills.

Just my speculation for the morning.

Current classes will still remain in 3.0 so class system will not be removed in 3.0.

What is happening with these new Jobs is that they will not have a class so they will start out as Jobs at lvl 1. (Think of them as Advance Jobs or Secret Jobs in RPGs you must find)

The only special requirement to unlock these 3 new Jobs is to unlock the Armary system for your character and find their Job Trainer somewhere in the world so players can get them even in 2.0 Main Scenario.

However, this also means there may be restrictions such as Retainers may not have access to DK, Mach, and Astro due to being Jobs. So players who want to level their retainer must level the current classes to level 60.

This also means new characters will not bable to start out as these Jobs.

Current classes in the game will most likely become the basic Starter Class/Jobs new characters/new players start out as to get a feel for the game.

Where is the source that current classes will still remain in 3.0?

I don't know about the new jobs, but your extreme lack of proper spelling greatly confuses me. I feel like I'm reading something from a 3rd grader.

The new jobs simply won't be giving any of their abilities to the existing jobs.

Obviously the new jobs will be able to take cross class skills from existing classes.

A healer without swiftcast? DOA. DPS without damage cooldowns? DOA. Tank withou... you get the drift.

    Don't be absurd, please.

There's likely no depth beyond why classes aren't being used anymore other than that the class/job distinction was completely arbitrary. When the only thing that makes your job a job is a crystal you equip... obviously something is off with that *part* of the system.
