    Hunts

Marks need a timer after they spawn before than can be attacked... or something... so people have an actual chance of getting there.

Seriously, since the seals have been doubled and you can buy twine ect people have just gone stupid. Even if you're in the area, people just pull it as soon as they spawn and people have either a) no chance of getting there because they're so squishy, even S ranks,
or get there in time for one hit and minimal seals.

I've stopped doing them because it's just ridiculous, but it sucks for others.

You should really look at it.

Dev's or GM's should give it a go just to see how bad it is.

Personally I think hunts should be personal, like how Levequest works.

    B - Solo
    A - Party of 8
    S - Raid size

Go solo/form a party/raid, head to the Hunting Board and pick up the hunt you want to do.
And to prevent S ranks to be farmed, the hunts will also cost Allowance like Levequest does, the higher the rank the more it costs.
This way there would be no 'Ninja pulls', no 'Taking ages to load I wont make it' because everyone is teleporting at the same time etc etc.
Also this way A and S ranks would feel more like real boss fights and could actually prove deadly.

-Something extra that I think would be fun-
You get direction to which map the hunt is, but you have to scout the map for tracks (or just be lucky and find it without tracking it) or maybe even have to lure it out with some bait. This way it would feel more like a hunt.

I think the issue is the disparity between those that start up hunting parties and those who see a post or a shout for a hunt who were doing something else. The hunting parties don't like to wait long since they need to keep moving to get as many hunts downed as possible. They have no tolerance for waiting for others that see a LS hunt post and try to get there as fast as possible but still too slow for these hunting parties. I have found this to be true since I have arrived in time for a hunt but no party will invite since they are already full., and there was never a hunt party up in "party finder". Since 2.5 serious hunting parties are probably much more popular, so this is going to cause grief for those who aren't in a hunt party I know it has me. Both your suggestions are good though. I have come to understand though, not to worry about hunts unless I want to join one of those hunt parties.

The thing is...hunts are supposed to be hunted. It's something you are intended to actively pursue. Instead, most people just wait around for someone else to shout it out and then want them to wait however long it takes for the whole server to gather together. I think that the person who found the mark has every right to do whatever they wish with it. If their group can defeat it on their own, because they took the time to hunt it or were just lucky and found it, then so be it. If they want to share the hunt and wait, more power to them. I just don\\'t think actual legitimate hunting parties should have any obligation to wait on the rest of Eorzea.
Imposing some sort of immunity "timer" when they spawn as you suggested would just be detrimental to those who actually hunt the hunts, forcing them to wait when it was never a requirement to wait.
If you really want to be serious about getting Allied Seals, join a hunt party and actually hunt. Otherwise, accept your luck in the meantime.

I get what your saying Darkstride, but things aren't always that cut and dry. Mostly I agree with you but many times one person happens by a hunt and then shouts out the location for others, put's up a hunt party in party finder for it to have one or more "hunt parties" show up and pull it right away leaving the one who found and announced ito loose out because his party hasn't arrived quite yet. I saw this the other day when someone shouted the location announced the hunt was in party finder, it filled up to 8 quickly then we all lost out due to "hunt parties" showing up an pulling it right away. They got to benefit from his shouting the location of the hunt but he or his party did not. I believe there should be some kind of balance here.

What kind of balance do you propose?

The OP's suggestion is to have the mark spawn with a timer before it can be engaged. This wouldn't really be helpful in the case that you presented, and it would certainly be detrimental to actual hunt parties. Your situation was unfortunate for sure, but balance requires some improvement on one side without taking away from the current enjoyment that others already have. It seems to me though that people just want hunts catered to their own needs/wants.

I'm not even saying this as someone who frequently does hunts. I'm just tired of everyone playing victim as if it is impossible for them to do hunts because everyone else steals them. It's very possible, you just can't rely solely on waiting for others to do the work of finding it and then expecting them to wait for you.

A good thing for everyone to, as you stated for it to be a true hunt, you actually have to go out and hunt. I have done this on my own, even found hunts, put up a party finder then announced it. My party would fill up fast and everyone gets there ok. I didn't have an issue or anyone else in the party, with getting full credit. Things are very different now. I am wondering though how some of those parties get to the location so quickly even if they weren't already there. Makes me suspect some kind of third party software. In FFXI botters used software to tele them to a certain location for notorious monsters. I hope that isn't the case here. Someday I may test that idea, if I find a hunt, just wait there and let someone else announce it and see how fast others get there, especially if it is a good distance from the nearest tele crystal.

I agree, when I have time I may try and join one as I get rather burnt out on doing dungeons over and over to get needed items. I like the outside world hunt. I guess balance is always going to be a tough thing. I don't think having a set timer is a good solution though. If you on late night and not many around who wants to wait if you already have a party.
