To my fellow real life travelers

So I travel every week for work. New city every week and I just started hauling the PS4 and playing via the hotel WI fi. Works fine except these last few stays SE is having me change my password because it thinks I might be trying to access my account for nefarious purposes. Is there a way around this? I love that they take the precaution just heart stopping every time I first log in and it looks like I am suspended or banned lol

Mine used to do that from taking my laptop to school, playing on my pc at home, and playing on my ps4.. was really annoying to change my password everytime i logged in >_< eventually it stopped no idea why :/
I would send a email to support maybe they can do something that will make it stop.. I know how much of a hassle it is XD

I'm pretty sure that if you use the one time password they won't ask you to update your password. I could be wrong but I have a one-time password token ($10 shipping included or free on smart phone) and I have never been asked to change my password while travelling for work. I travel quite often and it has simply never been an issue for me, I'm assuming that is why.

In addition to that I also use 2 different computers and I've found that a simple way to sync macros/gearsets/etc. is to setup dropbox, move your ffxiv folder (from my games in the documents folder) to your dropbox folder and then create a shortcut to the folder in its original location with the same name as the actual folder which you moved to dropbox.

I did that on both of my computers and now my macros/gearsets/etc. automatically sync between computers and I never have to backup/restore my settings.

You can get the token app also. It is free. I've been using it for about 6 months without any issues.

Well, with the software token (the phone version, that is), you can sometimes get a bug that causes the game (and mogstation) to insist that you've entered an invalid password. The only thing to do then is to unlink the software token and relink it. So make sure you save the automatic-emergency-unlink password from within Mogstation in case that should happen, or you'll need to get hold of support to do that.

(Yes, it doesn't happen often or to everyone, but it's happened twice to me in the six months or so I've had it... So... Better safe than sorry?)

The way it works with your account is:

1/ You can log in with as many different ISP as you want as long as your account is associated with one-time password.
2/ Your account can only be logged in with maximum of 3 different ISP before it starts to lock itself if you don't have one time password activated.

There is way to get around that is you have to change your password everytime you log in with different ISP,though that would prove problematic in a long run. So I suggest you have your account attached with one-time password app which can be downloaded from App stores.

To noxifer: Are you sure you enter the one time password within the time allowance? Because when the time bar ,which appears along with the number serial, run out, you won't be able to use that number and have to enter a new number. The bug you were describing never occur to me, and I have been using one time pass as long as I play this game in which more than 1 year.

Played FFXIV every night staying at different hotels on a roadtrip for 2 weeks using hotel Wifi and token for one time password. No problems logging in. Get a token or software token to protect your account and unwanted password resets.
