    T13 MT Preference?

My fcob static is starting t13 tonight and I'm debating if I (war) or the pld should MT. Most bids I've seen have the war OTing, but haven't seen any explanation why. Curious if there's a particular reason to do one over another.

Rather be informed when we start so we don't have to swap down the road and relearn stuff. Thanks!

Most first time groups will use PLD. The shield procs add up while learning, there is also a firm organized CD order that's easy to follow for PLDs. We always have our WAR open and tank the first flatten then I (the PLD) take over from there. While progressing I was in full HP gear and our WAR was in i90 Hybrid accessories. Its really not a hard turn, but there are a lot of situations and mechanics to learn. I found t13 much easier then t9.

That makes sense. War open with cray cray unchain/zerk and 1st flatten, then pld take over. I have a set of i90 hybrids (working on new 110 yay!) So that should work.

Was kinda curious since everyone talks about the dps checks and war MT, pld OT is a good chunk higher than pld MT, War OT., but people still did pld MT here anyway.

When you are teetering on the required HP PLDs shield really helps. Now that the fight is figured out and our HP is higher WAR mt PLD OT would be higher DPS.

The ideal tank would be lots of tank swaps.

    WAR opens with unchained
PLD takes over with rampart into sentinel in sword path.

    Phase 2
WAR tanks first flatten - PLD takes add
PLD tanks rampart into HG for 2nd flatten WAR takes add.

Our group has our Paladin main tank until the final phase, then I take over as Warrior. Warrior is able to Inner Beast every single Tempest Wing, Flare Breath and Akh Morn, which is a huge help to the healers.

honestly i have yet to see WAR MT / PLD OT have better combined DPS than PLD MT / WAR OT at t13

as what to MT with just go with whats best for group

That tank, that can manage his cooldowns better, should be maintank.

My Group runs double WAR since T6 (i joined them as WHM when they had T9 down alrdy), and whole final Coil didnt gave us any ussues regarding not having a PLD. Sure, here and there a hallowed would help ease some situations, but its totally doable.

Self-stoneskin on Tempest Wing is more miigation than IB.

    PLD is the stronger choice.

That's wrong, actually. You're not taking into account the fact that Inner Beast lasts for more than just one attack. Stoneskin will only partially absorb Tempest Wing, but Inner Beast will negate 20% of Tempest Wing and 20% of two auto attacks. It will also negate 20% of Flare Breath for the times he uses it immediately after Tempest Wing.

2x Stoneskin is ~2000 mitigated. IB on Tempest/Flare is ~1200 mitigated (after taking into account difference between Defiance/Shield Oath). howdoimath

Tempest doesn't interrupt casting, and PLD still has significantly more passive mitigation on auto attacks (Shield).
