Ok, I'll rephrase my question:

When can we expect to start seeing the results of this "ongoing" work on server-side issues?

We have allready seen the effects of the ongoing work with server side issues. The drop in UI lag is immense from when the game launched.

So it will happen over time, could be years from now until they are happy with the server.

People are just a little mad that taking time to get a easy issue question out. Like the payments we still have not yet got one but then again we found out what you guys are doing due to playonline. i mean how hard was it to tell us that info? so the rest that don't know can clam down a little?

But beside that the dev and yourself are doing a great job and i enjoy hearing any info you can give us i know some stuff are hard to give out info when there really noting on the works but anything would do. Even if it's we thought about it we don't have anything yet but we see is better then noting.

Furthermore I don't think the issue with people "Bumping" and "Fighting" to keep posts on the front page for dev attention will ever dissapear. While we are aware you guys read the posts, we also know we are more likely to prompt a response if we get a few hundred "Likes" on the thread.

Smaller posts and threads do get responses but I find the larger issues that are controversial among the fanbase tend to get adressed when post counts start to climb. Not saying you took too long or whatever I'm perfectly fine with the response we got, people need to know this isn't as easy as flipping a switch that is labled.

I disagree with the title of this topic (I believe that the single biggest issue holding back FFXIV is its convoluted and boring quest system, not server lag).

However, this is nonetheless an important issue that does need to be addressed. I wasn't even aware it was a real problem, but after seeing that YouTube video, I agree that it does need to be fixed (even though I think creating a fun and entertaining quest system is more important).

Bayohne writes in perfect English, and his translations are official. Rein has the luxory of not being responsible if he translates something wrong. We'll all forgive him, because he's doing us a favor and getting us info sooner while Bayohne is busy arguing our arguements for us. While he clearly does do his best and wants to improve to be a translator for SE, that doesn't change the fact that Bayohne IS the rep and has more responsibilities.

Yeah, in addition to his already busy job as Community Rep, he got thrown the added responsibility of CR/mod for these forums, too. For the amount of stuff they have to deal with, they've done a decent job so far. There's always things that can be improved, but considering the last minute nature of the forum implementation, you gotta give them props for what they've accomplished.
