Server Population on the Rise

I've seen people online that I haven't seen since last October, and I've been seeing more new players (players lower than r10 and wearing starter gear) in recent weeks. I've also noticed that the forum trolls have to work harder in order to find something to complain about, and for some of the things they're criticizing now, they have to go to great lengths to say they are unique to FFXIV when they are present in almost every MMO. (server lag for example)

I would say based on these two factors, that the game is getting to the point where it can compete with other MMOs, and that the people who are still saying the game will fail, are deluding themselves.

"Morale" seems to be higher aswell.

Most current players seem optimistic and are enjoying themselves in the game which i haven't seen until now.

There seems to be less raging and more preparing for the future content.

A Higher Activate Player Base & 1.19 only 5 or so weeks away.

Things trully are looking on the up.

i wonder if i made a mistake joining Wutai. Any way i can see what servers are most popular, maybe make a new character knowing now what i didnt know then.

So yes, Wutai is deader,
but my calculations also show that 20 hours a week of grinding for these 11 months steady is not likely to get you over 10,000 to this point. Which means, well, it's not hugely deader, and since the majority of population growth will be new players, you are not likely to be screwed.

I have noticed a bit more dispersion. not really much of an increase of people, if there is then it is very little. Uldah is still packed, I try to stay away from there but it is hard not to go back for repairs on my gear. Trying to stay in the zone of where i can get the marks for which ever class I am leveling, which currently is CON, so I am in Grid mostly.

I've seen some slight increase in the amounts of newcomers, but majorly, I've seen a huge increase in the filtering to other places. I've never seen La Noscea so populated before 1.18, nor Limsa Lominsa as well. And I play at the times where it's the witching hour in America and Europe.

Yeah, I have seen a lot more people on recently. The hours i play which are around midnight est. for a while it was an empty city except for the afk pile of BG Ls members but now you see multiple Ls's filling the streets. The guild marks being bound to the city with that guild is why you see more people in other areas. Seeing a lot of people at lower rank camps too.

I'm sure its the same on other servers but SP parties have become very popular. It seemed to take a couple weeks before everyone accepted it as the new way to level up. Everyone's dreams were crushed after group leves were destroyed but i think we have adjusted now.

As we get close to each good patch more and more players would return. I know 1.19 would be pack with players to try out chocobos and everything else that in that patch. But i think the big % of player base are PS3 users due to them not having money to build a pc or don't want to build a pc just for 1 game they like to play.

in Selbina i see people everywhere there people even /sh for party camps and they go out and kill stuff.

Do you think there's any hope for the PC crowd being a substantial precentage of the XIV community in the future?
PS3 release will bring a few console players but does anyone think PC players will return/start playing around that time also?

I wonder if this game's population will be the opposite of XI, PsU MMOs where the majority of the players were PC players and only a small fraction played those games on XBOX (and even a smaller fraction on the ps2).
