I've noticed an increase on Mysidia and some old friends are back. <3

Ul'dah is as busy as it ever was and the other cities are a lot more active too. The same goes for the Aetheryte camps. It surprises me to see a good amount of people out at Treespeak and Nine Ivies now.

You know, if you really want something legitimate, go to ffxivpro.com
They keep track of all player characters and award points for every rank gained in any job by that player.

I am ranked 26,700 overall all servers.
Unhealthy as you may call it, i have played the game CONSTANTLY 7 days a week for the last two months,
and prior to that i put in a good months worth of that.
So mathematically, with the game at 11 months now,
That means you can divide 70 hours a week by 3.6,
Lets say 20 hours to keep it non brain imploding.
27,000 people play the game more than 20 hours a week on average for 11 months.
So that's one thing. Obviously there is a dedicated BASE of players, we know that.

What really needs to be tracked is how this base moves.
A player ranked 70,000th in my opinion has not the progress to call active,
though any number of these players may turn into active players.

I'd like to see a tracker kept of these stats to know.
Best understand though, there are no more than about 28-30 thousand people TOTAL who have achieved Physical level 50 in 11 months.
    That's ... not a very big number.
I'm not making any death claims, in fact, i think this game has a bright future,
But best to know that we are dealing with SMALL numbers right now.

That said, i do stand by my opinion that server pop on Lindblum has boomed.

On Besaid I have seen a lot of new people lately! Though there are also a lot of people I know that just don't log in anymore or as much. There seems to be a core of steady players, and then the "revolving door" crowd. However this batch seems to be much larger than usual, so hopefully the retention rate for new/returning players will go up. ^^

The population seems a bit more evenly spread out too, though Ul'dah is the hub it is nice to see people elsewhere, even if it is relatively few. THREE WHOLE PEOPLE in Mun Tuy with you seems amazing if you are used to being alone there!

I've seen people online that I haven't seen since last October, and I've been seeing more new players (players lower than r10 and wearing starter gear) in recent weeks. I've also noticed that the forum trolls have to work harder in order to find something to complain about, and for some of the things they're criticizing now, they have to go to great lengths to say they are unique to FFXIV when they are present in almost every MMO. (server lag for example)

I would say based on these two factors, that the game is getting to the point where it can compete with other MMOs, and that the people who are still saying the game will fail, are deluding themselves.

    Max ffxivpro achievement is 49,000

FYI - On Lindblum, which is reported to be busy.
    100th overall 28,284
    500th overall 15,573
    1,000th overall 10,297
    1,500rd overall 7,044
    2,000nd overall 5,125

FYI - On Wutai, which you fear is dead.
    100th overall 24,348
    500th overall 12,314
    1,000th overall 7,290
    1,500rd overall 4,679
    2,000nd overall 3,103

    So yes, Wutai is deader,
but my calculations also show that 20 hours a week of grinding for these 11 months steady is not likely to get you over 10,000 to this point. Which means, well, it's not hugely deader, and since the majority of population growth will be new players, you are not likely to be screwed.

"Morale" seems to be higher aswell.

Most current players seem optimistic and are enjoying themselves in the game which i haven't seen until now.

There seems to be less raging and more preparing for the future content.

A Higher Activate Player Base & 1.19 only 5 or so weeks away.

Things trully are looking on the up.

I have noticed a bit more dispersion. not really much of an increase of people, if there is then it is very little. Uldah is still packed, I try to stay away from there but it is hard not to go back for repairs on my gear. Trying to stay in the zone of where i can get the marks for which ever class I am leveling, which currently is CON, so I am in Grid mostly.
