Apologies - A request for a more permanent solution to Vanity/Glamour system.

Title gets the gist of it, but I will elaborate so people understand its not a request for more storage space, but simply a better Wardrobe/Vanity interface and usage. Let me start by using an example of a Vanity/Glamour system I know that has done it well... Apologies for using another MMO as an example, but its a game of borrowed ideas, this MMO market. When we obtain an item that we want to use for Vanity, or any item that can be Vanity'd/Glamoured, we have the option to "Save" it to our Wardrobe system, this will soul-bind the item. But in this system, we would now be able to destroy/get rid of/donate-to-GC, but always have the Vanity in this Wardrobe storage system to access whenever.

They can keep the Glamour-Prism thing, but allowing us to have a "Wardrobe" or saved vanity system to chose from when we want would not only make the system a lot more bareable, but help with some of the storage issues. I know I for one have quite a bit of "useless" armor sitting in my retainer simply for the use of vanity. I do so enjoy FFXIV, but we should all be able to agree it has one of the absolute worst vanity/glamour systems of any MMO out there today. Its convoluted, restricting, and overly complicated for what should be an incredibly simple and fun system for players to experiment with.

Now... To give you some visual examples of what I mean... http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/File...robe_Panel.jpg

The Items are the left are all the "Stored" or "Unlocked" Vanity items, which you can select and chose from and then apply to the armor you want. You unlock these by simply obtaining the item, right clicking it, and "Unlocking" the vanity of the item. This will soulbind the item to you, but you can now toss it/NPC it or whatever and you will forever have that glamour/vanity unlocked.

All you have to do to use it is have the proper vanity currency (Glamour Prisms in XIV), right click your characters armor and chose the Wardrobe/w/e option... It will then display a model of your character as well as the armor like shown in the picture above, so you can see your glamour in real time as you select.... You can do this with your entire armor set at once as well.

You may not like GW2 but If you can't see how this is a much more fluid and intuitive glamour system you are simply beyond hope. I'm not asking for an exact copy and paste... but some sort of Storable vanity system where you simply "Unlock" the vanity and can use at any time would be nice.

--- To sum it up: I would request a Vanity/Glamour system where once you obtain an armor, you can "Unlock" its vanity to use whenever... selectable from a Wardrobe system. Glamour prisms and Job restrictions are still acceptable.

In the end, I would like to simply ask, if as a compromise, is the Development team aware that the current vanity system is quite inconvenient? Are there plans to make it more accessible and user friendly in the future? I know this has been brought up a lot.

As a topic for Discussion. If you like the current Vanity system, please explain why.

If you have a different solution, feel free to bring it up.

I have a retainer solely for glamour vanity gear, and it's full. Across 6 jobs, vanity gear gets pretty excessive. And I am loathe to turn in gear from dungeons I don't want to have to go back to. This system sounds interesting and I would totally support it. They could make a different version of the inn armoires for this (or just modify it). I'd like to see personal armoires that we could have in our rooms (instead of the one per fc house).

Gonna post my 2 cents on this.

Currently the Glamour system in place works, but it's flawed. Very flawed.
The first problem was quickly noticed that you couldn't glamour the Odin armor until the recently release of 2.5 that introduced the Odin fight with the "legendary armor" that is now in pieces and removes this problem.
But the ghost outfit from the All Saints' Wake 2013 still isn't possible to glamour since it's a complete armor set, just like Odins was.

Sadly even the idea of the socalled "Glamour Book", "Glamour Library" or "Wardrobe" as you called it wouldn't fix that problem.

But there are other places that it COULD FIX.

So if we had this magical book that could contain all glamour material instead of our current flawed system. This is what we could get.

    PROS:
1: Achievement and Seasonal items would no longer be needed to actually be in the inventory as items, they could just be unlocked as glamours for the books pages to be filled. = More inventory space, maybe cut the Armoire all together now and last remove the seasonal items for purchase from the Calamity Salvage.

2: All other items in the game which players wishes to glamour could be "thrown away" and make more space in people inventory, retainers and armoury chests.
= Less inventory issues yet again!

3: Make Augmented AF gear into Glamour pieces instead of actually armor. You trade in your AF armor + materials (who uses them anyway anymore unless you're a fresh 50) to unlock the glamour page = not needed to store AF gear or Augmented AF gear anywhere anymore.

4: With Heavensward soon coming out I bet my ass people would love to free up all their inventory worries since we're gonna see a buttload of new items from materials to armors. And currently probably alot of players have 2 retainers with 150/150 as well as a inventory close to be filled.
People could "throw away" allagan gear, HA gear and whatever they save for Glamours = MORE INVENTORY space.

5: Perhaps we could get each stage of the relic as pages when we upgrade. I know some people are missing the awesome nexus glow on the zodiac. = another problem solved

I think you're starting to see where I'm going with this.

    So to sum it up:
    -No need for Armoire.
-No need for unnecessary items to be in our inventory, armoury chests and retainers.
-No need for the seasonal items to purchaseable from the Calamaity salvager.
-Hopefully put less stress on the servers.

The only CON I see where this is going would be this.

    CON:
1: Putting some more stress to already overstressed servers.

I mean we have almost similar systems in place.
The fishing log, mount and minion guide and sightseeing log.
You have proved you can make a working "dictonary" in the game.
So why shouldn't this be possible?

I hope to hear some interessting ideas on this, they're might've been something I've overlooked so do reply!

Thumbing up these ideas of yours like no one has ever thumbed before. Please someone ask this in the next live letter or something. This would make my life immensely easier as I'm a fashionista and a glamour wh**e.

Even just making it so that there's a slightly higher initial cost but no cost for swapping glamors afterwards would be nice. I.e. you use a prism on an item to add it (the appearance) to glamor storage and another kind of prism to make an item (what you will wear for the stats) illusionable. After that point you can even have multiple 'gear sets' with the same real pieces, different appearances.

Slight compromise: just allow us to attach multiple glamors to the same item such that we can swap between them (and the original appearance). That actually may be harder to code/store though...

Or just have a magical book that you can fill up with the items you collect.. like a collectors tome or something. This way you dont actually need the item any longer once it has been recorded. You can then browse through the book whenever and use them stupid prisms to apply the vanity.

    BUT...
this will make having extra retainers moot
this may make most items lose value quick since once recorded people may no longer need them

    BUT...
    it saves space
could make most useless items gain value by making them in demand

Regardless... SE loves to make things complicated and excessively cluttered.

PLUS.. F their stupid RNG system.

Er.... That is what I suggested, except I used the term Storage system or "Wardrobe" >____>;, unless you were directing that at someone else.

As far as your buts though!
this will make having extra retainers moot
I think this will be our biggest obstacle ... Its making them money so anything we say will likely be meaningless as it cuts into their income. However it does not make them moot. I know quite a few people who buy extra retainers simply for the extra Market Board slots to sell items. Moot for storage maybe, not for those extra slots. They can also be sent on ventures and such no?

this may make most items lose value quick since once recorded people may no longer need them
Hmmm, Which items are valuable right now that would lose value...? I'm not sure what you mean here, I kinda ot a rough idea but I don't think this is accurate. People who buy those low level glamour items don't just buy, glamour, and toss them to rebuy later... especially the expensive ones. They retain the same value they have now... people buy once, and done/store them. Except with this, said player doesn't require it to take up inventory space any longer.

Also, I did propose "unlocking" the items glamour would Bind it to the player, so they couldn't simply buy it and resell it either, as a precaution to what they might do to the MB
