So, I already assumed that Alex' was in the low lands, due to how similar the area looks, then I stumbled across this old pic, could this be the location of the fortress Primal himself?
Apparently the location was called Ewe lake.

Anything is possible. Ewe Lake was in the southern part of Coerthas and close to the zone line to Mor Dhona. Geographically now the zone line to Mor Dhona is right at Boulder Downs, Ewe Lake would be further south. So maybe Alexander has something to do with the Hall of Seven Echoes (near Boulder Downs).

That does indeed look like one of the lakes within old Coerthas. Not to mention the fact that that area was/is known as "Coerthas Central Lowlands" which with it being considered lowlands could allow it to escape being a winter wonderland. In the art books for ARR there are a few pictures of grassy areas within the Coerthas section which suggests we'll have grassy zones so I back you on the idea of Alex being within Coerthas.
I honestly believe that we'll see the four zones of Coerthas that have been excluded thus far within the expansion, look at it this way, how can you have three new jobs and only one zone within their native region? :P
I would expect Alexander is going to relate to something more in the Shroud. After all, we were told that it is the Goblins who have summoned or called out Alexander. I offer the Shroud up as the location of his appearance since it seems that the Shroud has the most Goblin population, so nothing really in hard in game evidence.
With the new jobs - I would expect that the Machinist is going to be something relating directly to Cid and his continued appearance in the game going forward. Mainly due to the fact that the job looks like s SteamPunk version of Garlean Tech in Erozea Drag.
With the game moving to Ishgard, and based on the trailer, Dragoon is going to be a major player in the next chapter of the game. After all, the WOL we are following was the Warrior Job in the original trailer who is traveling alone to become a Dragoon. I would expect the Dark Knight is a job whose homeland will be revealed during the Course of Heavensward and the 3.0 patch expansions.
IDK... some of those rocks look sort of... "floaty" in that picture of Alexander. Have we seen anything similar to... "floaty" rocks in game before?
Scratch that, I keep thinking of Astrologian being a part of Ishgardian heritage because of the Astrologists there... Dark Knight looks as though it'll be brought in by Au Ra and as Aoxavier said, Machinist has Cid written all over it.
But I still believe we'll get the four "lost" zones from 1.0. :P
South of Fallground float toward the direction of West shroud where the moon chunk and moon golems are. The rocks in that whole area seems to be suspended mid air by something. There's also the possibility if the goblin are connected to it that it might be an artificial construct made from salvage from the moon or could be the Illuminati's secret got exposed.
That's probably more to do with the fact that the Second Coil of Bahamut is located there.South of Fallground float toward the direction of West shroud where the moon chunk and moon golems are. Okay then. that's what I'll do. I'll tell you a story. Can you hear them? All these people who lived in terror of you and your judgement. All these people who's ancestors devoted themselves to you, sacrificed themselves to you. Can you hear them singing?
