I used to report RMT spam all the time, but it's gotten to be just overwhelming and I'd have to choose between filling out reports and playing the game. I choose to play the game.

It seems to vary from one RMT group to another. Some will keep sending /tells to the same players over and over again until they're banned (which can take SE a very long time to get around to). Others seem to only send a couple tells to each player and then stop, presumably to recycle their character to a new name that's not on as many blacklists. So it helps with at least some of them.

It doesn't work well, but if you don't do it you can easily end up getting half a dozen messages from the same bot over the space of a minute or two.
