I don't think so since its a specialty class like what the 3 new jobs are gone be in the expansion.
how is it a specialty class, it actually has a class job unlike the 3 new jobs in the expansion i think it would be a good move cause im sure alot of new players want to start out as a rogue.
SE may consider it if there was really enough interest, but i highly doubt it. In a way, it's a good thing. It let's players get used to the game a bit which is good.
I think SE wants new players to get a feel of the battle system first before they tackle rouge(well actually its NIN that they need to prep for). Mudras can be tricky especially if you're weaving them in between GCDs which can probably give problems to new players.
Well Mundras don't come into play until Ninja is unlocked so that gives players thirty levels to get a feel for the battle system before having to worry about a mechanic like that. And while I think it's an unlikely move for Rogue to be made into a starting class (as they could have done that initially yet chose not to) I do hope that they make the change when you consider that Musketeer may never see the light of day forever leaving Limsa Lominsa with only two starting classes to choose from. By no means is it necessary for each starting city to have three starting classes, but it's one of those little things that can get irksome. Not to mention Rogue is the only class that isn't available from the start and may only ever be the class with such a restriction. It's just odd. Maybe in the future they will add more classes for players to unlock, but so far they haven't given any sign of having that intention.
The main reason that they will likely not do this is because it requires a lot of additional development time to program a new starting class into the opening cutscenes, starting screens, etc.
If you need a good reason from a gameplay standpoint, just remember that 0 jobs benefit from ROG/NIN cross class abilities. It is one of the least desirable classes to ever start on since it provides no benefit to any other job in the game.
Well, Rogue abilities can't be used as cross-class abilities. So in a way it's "special".
I think it's because they plan on a different system since cross-class limits their options. No base classes for new jobs and no shared Rogue abilities leads me to believe this. Let's wait and find out.
