    43 Kills on T9 and still no spear found

    Hi guys, I have cleared T9 43 times (with 100s of failure rounds), which might not be a very large number for some of you but I have never seen spear before.
    I main DRG (more towards NIN now) and I have cleared T9 for about 3 months now. (I only got NIN and SMN weapons from T9, most common drop is WHM)

    I do not have a static group, and I play in Unicorn so I just use PT Finder to get into T9. I have tried using DRG, NIN, MNK & WAR but just no Spear.

    It's really vexing to see my friends gearing up all their other characters while I'm still stuck going to T9 every night trying my luck at things.

    I got Diamond Spear but I just don't feel right with it. HA spear has been my ultimate aim ever since I started second coil.



    So I just wanna know if anybody else out there that is in the same boat as me, trying so many times in T9 and it's just bad RNG.

    P.S. I know SE has been doing some small changes to alleviate the RNG shit problem and I hope to see more changes.

    UPDATE: 52 kills no spear yet

    at 30 kills you have a 63% chance of seeing all 10 weapons. Source = http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=30+10+sided+dice
    So..... it could take a lot of kills.

    at 59 kills you hit 98% chance source = http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i...all+faces+show

    so you can basically round up to 100%!

    I'm in the 40s with no sword dropping. I've also only seen 1 great axe.

    As a tank main coil absolutely hates me. Been doing FCoB since release and my group has seen 1 right side fending drop and zero left side.

    @Staris: I've seen that post before and yeah it's kind of irritating that it is actually possible to be over 105 kills and you're still stuck in the 0.02% zone. I think I have only seen bow once, or maybe none at all

    @SirTaint: Damn, I hope the RNG will be in your favour and hopefully more tank loots will start dropping when you clear more of FCoB. I myself played through T8 using DRG and I have not yet gotten the Headgear of Maiming

    Took me around 35 kills to finally see the axe drop and then another 5 or so to see the spear. Still haven't seen the maiming chest drop.

    Edit: Finally saw the maiming chest drop a few days ago, only problem was it dropped when I was getting the clear on my roe alt so I couldn't get it for drg on my main >.<

    110+ kills before I got bow. In that time everything else dropped multiple times most of which I got including all left and right pieces that you can get from T9. Not sure if thats a cruel twist of fate or not >.>

    its not. it just proves why the devs have no braincells when it comes to a good or rather "fair" loot system. rng may sound like everyone has equal chance while in fact its not fair at all when some people need to put in 10 times more effort than others. thats just outright bullshit of a system. replace loot with tokens like current 4 man expert dungeons and the problem is GONE. with the ID in place on coil turns it makes no sense to have RNG on top of that aswell. its already streched out enough. there needs to be a limit to BAD rng in the form of tokens or something else you can collect to get a damn reward. if youre able to clear the content you DESERVE your reward. human brains want to be rewarded. not slapped in the face by RNG over and over again. but it seems asian devs will never get that point.

    Only issue with this is everyone can roll need. Fine if you're in a friendly FC group, but in party / duty finder most who already have the weapon for the class they are playing will roll for their 5th/6th/7th token just for a class they may some day level.

    Perhaps a better system would be to drop one random weapon (as is already happening), but in addition give every player a token. Maybe 15 tokens can be exchanged for a weapon at Revenants Toll. In other words you might get lucky, which feels awesome, if not you are always guaranteed a weapon after 15 clears (which isn't as excessive as RNG's possible 100 or more clears).

    I would totally love that! It retains what the lucky players want and also includes what the unlucky players need. Farming T9 (which isn't sure-kill if you don't have a static) 100 over times just for a weapon that will very soon be easily outgeared is just ridiculous.

    The Diamond Dust was a nice addition in my opinion but heck, the weapon itself isn't even dropping for some people

    Not to mention that I have never had a chance with my NEED on those primal mounts...

    Hi Velo,

    Yah I posted about this last week. In FF XIV 1.0, Yoshi P actually did put in this system:

    * (No Lockouts) Low Chance for a Weapon Drop *and* 100% Token Drop. Collect enough Tokens and you get the Item of your choice.

    It worked really well and seemed the most fair for all players:

    You get the "Lottery/RNG feel" (that some players seem to like), and after enough wins, you get enough Tokens to trade in for your weapon (if you were just too unlucky). Win-win.

    I hope they bring this back for 3.0 Heavensward. Please.
