The Crystal Tower story arc ends on a terribly cheesy, lazy note.

First, how are Unei and Doga able to annul Xande's pact? I mean, how, specifically? What did they do? Did they magic the pact annulled by their good wishes? Does killing clones of Allagan royalty annul Xande-Cloud of Darkness pacts? Were we told this in the story somewhere? Was going inside and fighting all the stuff in the World of Darkness even necessary? Could we just have waited and let Unei and Doga take care of it for us?

Secondly, and more importantly, why is G'raha Tia such an awful character? This is a multi-part question.
  • How does having royal Allagan blood make you remember the memories of your ancestors? You know, I have the blood of my ancestors and... nope, still can't remember everything they thought, felt, and learned, and everything that happened in world affairs while they were alive. Why can G'raha Tia?

  • Why is G'raha Tia such a dick to science? You think, given his historical and scientific interests, G'raha Tia might wish to... you know, share the vast sea of knowledge he's just remembered with his NOAH companions. You know, the ones who have repeatedly proven to him that they are trustworthy and mature seekers of truth and the peace of the realm. You'd think that maybe we would appreciate the thousands of years of Allagan history, technology, science, art, literature, and other culture that G'raha Tia has magically remembered. But no, yeah, I guess it's a better idea to seal it away 'until we're ready'. Thanks bro. Also--that Crystal Tower? The one you just now learned how to control? Yeah, don't stick around and tell NOAH how it works, and start on the project of making it help Eorzea. Seal it away under that bushel basket. Such sacrifice, so wow.
I guess, you could summarize these complaints with: Why did the Story Team feel obligated to sweep this Crystal Tower arc away in an over-hasty, obviously-rushed, unsatisfying resolution? Why did they feel the need to turn G'raha Tia into the Mary Sue-est of Mary Sues invoking the divissimus of deus ex machina resolutions?

Eorzea may never know.
