What's the point of DoTL lucis anyway...

So I got my Halcyon Rod Lucis, but Ninja Bettas keep escaping even with 430+ gathering (no comment), and you can catch all fish with supra or ironworks.
Also, you can gather absolutely every single mine and botanist node with the supra too.
So...what the hell are they for?

I'm assuming they are just allowing us to gear up before expansion. That way people who are on the leading edge of gathering can go right into doing what they do. Makes sense to me.
And BTW you can gather anything in the game with melded AF and Forager's Main hand/hat. Don't need supra to gather anything yet.

If you want Rosemary or Virgin Basilisk Eggs HQ and in one hit to reveal, you need the Lucis tools. You can use food to get around that, but those new nodes with 450 gathering and perception requirements were definitely put in the game to give the Lucis a place to shine.

And Shonisaurus I think since your total Perception is only 318 (an estimated 320 is needed to HQ its mooch), but yes. Halcyon Lucis removes the need for food in all but a couple cases, and I'd like to hope will remain important as we move into Heavensward.

You can farm rosemary and eggs without lucis.. I dont even have a fully melded i70 off hand with supra and I can get them HQ..

Sure you can, but you need precise melding/food to hit the HQ cap and food to get the Gathering to do it in one hit. I had Supra and full foragers and max melds on my offhand and that was juuuuuuust enough to hit the 450 HQ requirement, and not enough to hit the gathering requirement for 1 hit. To hit that 450 perception, you have to meld at least 8 Perception to your offhand, and have everything else maxed. Even if you put the full 14 Gathering on your offhand as well, that doesn't give you a one-hit reveal for the node. FC Buffs would of course also work, but the point here is Lucis allows you to freely hit the nodes with no restrictions or costs.
