Nero's fate discussion {SPOILER!}

Nero has been quite a interesting character since 2.0 and though his character development was a bit predictable for me it certainly left the question what will he do next and what role he will play in future FF14 Storyline.

Though I'm a bit disappoint that they kept a good part of his character development off scene when he was still trapped in the World of Darkness.

So what is your opinion about what role Nero will play in FF14 now that...

He has let go over his obsession to surpass Cid.

It would be interesting if he plays into a role for a future Main Scenario or future 24 member raids storylines that will be the successor to Crystal Tower.

He hasn't quite dropped the whole surpassing Cid thing, just rethinking about how to go about it imo. But him tossing away that scanner (which was what left of his garlean battle armor) is pretty significant on its own.

While true, it is no longer the level of a obssession.

Considering Nero and Cid's friendship is one of those Rvial friendships ( they hate each other but also respect each other at the sametime) I look forward on how they will handle things from here since Nero did say his goodbye to Cid at the end of the story while not directly it does mean something.

I look at it this way. Nero is the Vegeta to Cid's Goku. There's a solid rivalry there, but it's not as virulent as it used to be.

I was hoping something more would happen with Nero absorbing darkness. World of Darkness in FFIII was the home of the 4 warriors of dark, and I thought this would be a pretty good chance to show a hint as to what the dark knight class will be about in FFXIV lore. I was totally expecting Nero to be on the verge of going dark knight in 2.5, but then he just discards the darkness and escapes. Just as Yuguri was a tease for Ninja class in 2.2 cutscenes, I was expecting Cid and Nero to tease Machinist and Dark Knight.

who said he has gotten rid of all the darkness from the world of darkness, for all we know he could of had the levels within him lower so he isn't in danger, leaving him with enough darkness to enhanse his fighting, it is still possible for him to be our teacher/ main dark knight npc (espechaly when given his fighting style with the gun hammer)

Meh I doubted that was going to happen since CT is a side-story that continues Cid and Nero's story due to not being involved with the 2.X Main Scenario.

Most likely they may be involed with Main Scenario again in 3.0 Main Scenario.

I can see him being involved in a new 24man raid style dungeon; maybe starting his own archaeology team (kinda like sons of st coiloch, NOAH)

I think he tossed that scanner at the end because he already gained enough first hand knowledge and experience within the dark world, making it almost useless. Or it could have been his way of paying Cid back so he'd owe him nothing.

I definitely look forward to seeing more of Nero. I hope he'll become a rather important character who'll accompany us, or even save our rears, at some point in the future.
