    I think expecting massive changes this late in the game is pretty pointless but is still exciting to talk about, at least for me (love what if conversations).

    However there have been some more minor suggestions in here that I think are worth a look. Of course Yoshida may already have them implemented (or way better ones) - really want some ARR news on the battle system >,>

    In my opinion I've always thought classes were useless and should be scrapped. noone ever uses any of them except thaumatage which itself shows how useless they have been.

    In ARR though if they are going to keep them i hope they get it right. and by get it right i don't mean deliberately nerf ajob to makea class look viable. i mean enhance a class and make it shine a little.

    in 1.0 jobs outperform classes solo in nearly everycase. they don't need cure or stoneskins for the most part. A warrior could simply bloodbath his way through endless hordes, monks could second wind and 1 on 1 drop most stuff ridiculously easily. i have at times solod 60+ on my monk. brds had cure had stoneskin but take a second to paeon yourself and you can solo ridiculously well with an infinite tp source.

    the question is how do you make classes shine. mix and max skills from accross the board. not the right answer. nearly everyone uses the same skill set on a class invigorate second wind bloodbath and for the most part people still take jobs and thus everyclass is the same which and has no identity which is why they changed things around a bit in 1.18? (think it was that patch)

    part of why i wanted the class system scrapped is because i wanted to feel a sense of variety to some degree the job system has done that, there's just not enough jobs really. but before that. everyclass felt exactly the same to play everyone had the same skills equipped regardless of bow sword lance of fists it was dull.

    why i wanted the system scrapped in arr is much the same reason. if arc becomes ranger then it again follows arc skills/traits andessentially becomes just another arc. i originally levelled archer to be a proverbial "glass cannon ranger" hurt things alot but if my target even looks at me i'll shatter into a million pieces. I know a lot of arcs who feel exactly the same and felt kinda gutted when we got brd and not ranger. if gla becomes drk then it's going to be a very gla orientated job with a highly defesive set of traits not much good for a dd.

    all could change in 2.0 but I really hope if they keep classes they actually have something to offer without nerfing jobs just to make classes look slightly more viable.

    one thing i do remeber though is a suggestion of oldddddd i dunno who's idea it was. but someone said at one point scrap the class system and have an onion job. onion knight can use all dow skills onion mage can use all dom skills. then you have a dedicated role for versatility and not simply a bunch of classes that play the same.

    I do really hope 2.0 gets it's right though whatever they do. I also hope any future jobs have some real variety. thats one thing i likd about 11. 20odd jobs and they all felt totally different to play.. if they bring in jobs like ranger i hope it is totally different to arc/brd not just an arc with a couple of different skills like bard is currently

    My vote's for a lock, and I will continue to hold that tune until such an action occurs.

    If it wasn't past the point where i could go back to the origonal necrobump and report it for such I would. The topic of eliminating the class system is both outdated concerning we are not aware of the depth of the combat changes, as well as it is moot as it is simply not happening at all, as confirmed by Yoshida on multiple occasions.

    So please lock this thread if you wish for it not to be derailed further.

    Purposefully derailing will just get you a ban hammer, dont be a troll.

    Necrobumping isnt a ban-able offense if there was a purpose to it. Famously necrobumps turn into misunderstood contexts because the information within it is so old. Since we dont know crap about ARR armory and if there are any differences whatever said here isnt outdated. It may not be a problem in ARR because Yoshida may have done some masterful tweaks, but we dont know that.

    @Dxian - the MRD gets some uses sometimes as well. I mean THM and MRD can be good in parties. Out of party you may see some good solo combinations. Thats what classes are supposed to be at least - so flexible you can make your own mini-party (solo ability).

    We just dont want to have to make a class for every job (flood the class system) or have jobs become not unique. They are both guesses into the future, and logic applied on the 1.0 system - so applicable under those tense. And I dont condone "its alpha, dont talk till release" or whatever, so.. I dont see why this topic has to stop until Yoshida tells us what he did.

    So maybe classes arent useless in concept but they can become a big problem (then be useless) :P

    I don't agree that classes should be removed, but asking for thread locks is just childish. Just leave the thread with your anti-class removal comment if you dont like and and want it to die. you just succeed and bumping it back up and asking for more replies in it by doing so.

    This thread is a sociological nightmare, and an example of deep seeded flaws within the modern forum structure. You're continuing the course of the topic for no other reason but to sate your own opinions, fully well knowing that the topic has been addressed, by the development, for or against your opinions.

    If this was a conversation between adult and child, the child would be punished for his or her insolence, not encouraged to continue to argue the point after the decision has been made. And the babysitter shouldn't be undermining the point the parent made by letting it go on.

    There is no other logical resource for this topic to continue except under deviating premises that deserve their own threads.

    In the end there is no purpose for this thread to continue, period. It's masturbatory and nothing more. It's not even a matter of agreeing or disagreeing with the opinions expressed. It's very cut and dry. Op asks for Class system to be removed, the answer is no.
