I'd like it if Jobs were not limited to what 'class' you are.

Example, if you unlock Warrior, you could use it with any melee weapon.
Warrior + Axe? + Spear? + Sword? Do it. The weapons influence the various weaponskills they get plus the weapon specific abilities, Lancer's Speed Surge Vs. Axe's Steadfast Vs. Sword and Sentinel.

Warrior focuses more on damage, less so on tanking (though still capable of it, paling in comparison to Paladin for pure 'tank'ness). You mix in what ever special things you remove from the classes and gave to Warrior (I assume this will be happening since so many classic jobs have their abilities spread EVERYWHERE right now).

For Mages... Mages are kind of a mess right now. CON is our BLM and WHM while THM is... what ever got squeezed to the side. Arcanist is likely our candidate for Geomancer, so maybe Scholar for THM? I wouldn't be surprised if SE suddenly or gradually shifts abilities in and out from classes to job specifics.

Reason why they should not allow you to use other type of wep that does not make sense for your job is.

Mage would use a hand to hand would you really be attacking? nope your back line job.

If your a lancer and using hand to hand wep what the point? if your a pricing type? Same goes for monk using a Lancer wep when monk are about blunt DMG.

So Monk should only use Staff that look like polearm type and Hand to hand. Let's say samurai come out then they can use GK,Polearm,Bow. But allowing everyone to use any type of wep even if does not make sense with your job i find the dumbest idea and there a topic about that and they said that not how it going to be.

They should allow job to wear more then 1 type of wep only if they release the other following Wep that is missing from the game and should only make sense to that job to be using it. Monk --> Hand to hand ---> Long Staff PLD---> Sword / great sword.

But also i think that wont even happen due to the game being wep=class which = job if they change that rule then i see us wearing more then one type of wep.

For parties obviously no one should come as a BLM/PUG, but BLM/PUG would actually be really fun for soloing. Jobs should be left open to use with any class for the fun factor of soloing and testing strategies. Your restrictions would be unnecessary since players would be smart enough not to come into a party situation as a DRG/CON (lol), players dont need their hands to be held to choose the right job and class combination. Players can find out what works for party play, and solo..

for soloing you have Class so i don't get this idea of using jobs as Soloing when jobs=party class=soloing due to them being allow to hybrid. So there no need for jobs having sub jobs when soloing would be best done with class

Your acting as if Jobs can only be used in party situations, and classes can only be used while soloing. Classes right now can solo fairly easily without equiping cross class abilities, that said, I'm sure a Gladiator can solo more effectively while Palading is equipped due to healing and defensive capabilities. When jobs come out, I'm really sure players will stick to their job while in a party or soloing, others will stick to classes if they have a large amount of cross class abilities they have acces to.

Red Mage is going to be a Job and has all the essentials of soloing, so what would be the point of taking it off while soloing?

I'm an Archer with little to no cross class abilities, and I can solo mobs almost 15 levels above me fairly easy. When jobs are releas bard will give me the added buffs and protection the job comes with, so why should I only be a bard within a party? The key word is PLAYER CHOICE, everyone should have the choice to define their play style and role, especially for solo play.

Also solo players are going to want to utilize jobs as well as artifact equipment, and this is why jobs will not be exclusive to party play.

This is the biggest reason they should be unlocked. Solo players can define their strategies.

no i'm going by what SE said Jobs can't be very good at soloing due to the fact that i don't know. If i be a monk i don't have any good way of cure due to the fact that i'm lock to Monk type JA/WS.

Jobs would be best for Dungeons and party type and people who don't want to party still can go off and be on there class. if they want to solo with there job they can but going to be hard without any type of cure on a DD type job.

We obviously need some clarification from SE on this but my guess is that The Grand Companies will somehow magically "imbue us" with these new abilities/jobs just for the duration of the mission/dungeon/raids. I don't think we will even have the option to play the jobs outside of Grand Company Party Missions.

I dunno...they couldn't handle the optimal rank gear stuff. They need SE to come in and set more gear restrictions. Momma SE will lay out tomorrow's clothes for you ahead of time so you don't have to worry about dressing yourself.

Or maybe that's more about not wanting to see kids in the lower grades wearing the same clothes as them. -shrugs-

Never played final fantasy tactics i guess? Using ''not for your class/job'' weapons made some of the most powerful combos in the game..
    Bare fisted ninja ftw \o/

They havent given a lot of details on jobs so its hard to say how theyll end up being used shrug.
Altho being the random custom person that i am i will likely end up going with my weird class/job combo whether its solo or party content im facing~
