With the logic in your example, Ronik, it would be easier just to keep classes. That way I can equip Siphon MP II on my Gladiator and not worry about some sort of Job based sacrilege by putting Aspir II on my Paladin.

Sounds to me like you already want what the system already offers, except with the frivolity of aesthetic nostalgia.

The job system is coming whether we like it or not, so the argument about the ease of simply keeping the classes as they are is a worthless one. My suggestion merely condenses the combat roles into one over-arching set - a job system, instead of dividing it between classes and jobs for either solo or group play. The main point of my argument is that we only need a single combat role system, and having the two co-exist unnecessarily complicates things.

Also, I find it incredibly silly to claim that aesthetic appeal is somehow frivolous. We are playing a Final Fantasy game - a genre which has practically built itself on it's aesthetic identity. This "look" and "feel" is a critical part of the game for many of us, and I know I speak for many when I say we most certainly would enjoy playing and looking like traditional Final Fantasy jobs.

Classes are Classes, Jobs are Jobs.
When Jobs will come out, you'll understand why Classes are important.

    -want to leveling casually
-want to have more definite role on party
SE Will upset more players if they abolish armoury system

People play games while fun character progression is available to them. How disappointing is the game going to be to most/all solo players when they realize the best form of advancement is useless outside of groups?

And yes, Jobs are the "best" form of advancement because being a PLD or BLM or w/e is really cool.

Locking gear sets/Jobs from solo players will keep the game f2p forever.

The thing is, I want both. I like the idea of having a quick way to focus myself in a party and have that traditional job feel, but I also like being able to utilize all of the abilities I've already earned and put them together in a manner that I see fit. I love the idea of FFXIV's new system and it's ridiculous to think of them as two different systems. It's even more ridiculous to kill the very core character building element, the current "aesthetic", the adaptability, and the core feature of XIV that differentiates itself not only from other MMO's but other Final Fantasy titles, especially when it pleases more people and makes for a much more dynamic and interesting playing environment if you just introduce jobs as a party centric device which is how they'll be implemented.

Jobs are for partying if you don't want to party then go play on your class. Yes you wont get the AF gear for Jobs or cool JA/Spell/WS from the jobs on your class but if your casual then you wont need them all casual do is log in do a few things for 1-4hours and log off.

This game is not going to stay F2P at the end when this game does go p2p all the casual would go back to wow or whatever game they came from and only the true fan of Final fantasy would stay. Also when FFXI dies what else would ffxi players have to play? FFXI even if there mind set is more casual you can't have a game 100% solo / casual for that you play a offline F2P mmo then a p2p version.

im with ronik on this one

tanaka mesed things up pretty damn bad.
i dont think you should need mp on a pug. classes are a jumbled mess. just because you want to be able to solo dosent mean you should need mp. it needs ballencing stat wise. maybe materia will fix a lot of it. maybe not.

i dont like anything tanaka has done imo it all needs reworked not just switch classes to jobs
    market wards - stupid
    action bar - retarded
    zones - boring
locking job/class to weapon - limits char groth
the list goes on and on and on

but 3 cheers for yoshi and a personal chocobo i can call where ever i want as manny times as i want!

That's what I am saying. The system gives an ultimatum that isn't acceptable.

You are aware that FF sells millions upon millions of copies for each new game released right? Most "true" FF fans are casual. In America, at least, FF is the king of casual JRPGs. Tailor made since 5 with pretty graphics and easy to figure out combat.

You can tell us all to get out if you want but I've been playing FF since 1 and I don't need to spend 50 hours a week in a party while playing 14 to magically turn into a "true" fan.
