My concept for a FFXIV Beastmaster leaves out the ability to summon their own pet, but rather they must rely upon taming the beasts they find out in the wild.
However, once they are able to charm a beast it will remain loyal and stay with them until it is killed. Lowering the beast's HP will cause them to be more susceptible to charm, as well as reducing their aggressiveness, whereas non aggressive mobs will fall under your command much easier. They are able to charm up to 7 levels above their own, with no impact on experience points. Though, if trying to charm a powerful and aggressive beast that is 7 levels higher it may require a near death charm attempt.
This Beastmaster is average or below average in most areas, but his strength rests in the additional damage of their pet. After capturing a strong pet it most likely will be weaken, so it will be up to the Beastmaster to use his abilities, such as "Feed", "Lull", "Pacify", "Retreat" and his shield skills to keep it alive for further use.
