    City names...why them?

I was thinking one of these days...most/all city names doesn't seems to fit the main race of there.

Limsa Lominsa is a lalafell-based name both neither of lalafell races belongs there.

Ul'dah is a seeker of the sun name, but even though seeker of the sun are from Ul'dah, it was founded by dunefolks.

Gridania, even though is the elezen and keeper of the moon city, has a hyur-based name.

Ala Mihgo, already shown during quests that is the native nation of Highlanders, does have a keeper of the moon-based name.

Ishgard, which probably is a Roegadyn-based name, actually has no roes around since they are native of Limsa and Ul'dah.

Is there any lore behind the naming of cities (like kings, heros or whatever) or they were just randomly chosen?

Conquest. Maybe they had more suitable names at one point, but were conquered by races that changed the names. Istanbul was Constantinople, now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople.

i dont understand in what way the names are race specific. Is that mentioned anywhere in the game?
I thought most races in eorze speak the same language.

As a counter-argument, if that were the case then why would the currently prevalent Lalafells allow their city to continue to bear a Mi'quotean name to this day?

It was either that, or us lalafel would have named everything Lala-"zone name here". We had to compromise with everyone when they offered us enough gil to drop the Lala part.

Limsa Lominsa is not built by Lalafell Plainsfolk like you would have preferred to believe in. They were built by remnants of a sea-faring nation far to the South of Eorzea. Said nation was destroyed/invaded by a similar sea-faring Nation, the remnants fled North for as far as they could go, many lost at sea until the remaining reach the site which is current LL. In fact it could be the Roegadyn who first founded the city.

Ul'dah is founded by nobody knows, but the Sultana is Dunesfolk Lalafell.

Ala Mihgo, as shown during quests (and by quests I meant QUESTS, many many quests not just story line), is home to many different races: Ala Mihgan refugees are Lalafell, Miqo'te, Hyur, Elezen.

Ishgard is also home to many races, yet strangely most of the Knights are Elezen. There are Lalafell, Roegadyn and Hyur knights though very rare.

I thought England was an English name, but it seems that England is populated mostly by non English people. (no racism intended but it applies here)
