Intense lag, 90k's and general mayhem

I realize the patch has recently come out, but Ive been seeing this alot more on weekends lately. People are disconnecting left and right and complaining of 90k's is getting increasingly frequent.

Is there nothing that can be done on SE's end to mitigate this. Perhaps new servers are in order to help alleviate the large amounts of player base on specific servers or decrease loads.

Everytime I lag or get 90k'd Ive run a speedtest and my connection has been pristine. I get exactly the speed Im paying for, so I'm certain its not on my end. Especially since so many others are experiencing the same issues.

haha this has been happening to me as well, and speed tests show that im all good on my end. It only gets worst after each patch is released x.o

speed tests are not a good way to find out your connection to the servers. run a trace route to see if you are possibly being routing thru a bad node.

I used to get lag spikes often but with WTFast my connection has been flawless. WTFast reroutes your connection over a private network. The service offers a month free trial. It's worth a try.

You can also indefinitely extend your free trial through Facebook or whatever.

And your connectivity problems are most likely due to a bad node in the route, as mentioned by Kaze3434. A specific node located in/near Montreal owned by Level 3 Communications is particularly notorious for this.

It should be noted that I have done this several times in the past and I am almost always connected thru a VPN for this reason.

Unfortunately, as Square Enix does not own any part of Level 3 Communications, which is one of the biggest roots of this problem, there is very little that they can do firsthand - they would have to pressure Level 3 from one side, while we as consumers pressure them from the other side, in order for anything to be done about it.

I am not talking about the routing issues here. The issues I am seeing is solely during patches and weekend traffic. It seems more like server congestion to me than Level 3's usual issues. No, this appears to be general server congestion. Not to mention the length of time its been taking the poor Duty Finder to reserve an instance after finding party members (1-6 minutes at times). This obviously isn't just the normal issue with routing here. If SE's servers are being this congested with a single patch, then perhaps its time to increase the amount of servers they have before 3.0 comes out and bombards us with even more players. (This feels very similar to the lag and 90k's I experienced at launch of 2.0. And it was alleviated when they increased the amount of servers back then.) So there are things that can be done about this.
