I've been seeing this on my sever as well, and it is a case of the mobs being zerged down at such a speed that most players, most players, are suddenly rarely making it to them in time. Most people I know who hunted before patch utilized it for Alexandrites, not vanity.
Right before the patch, hunting was such a minor side option that most severs developed a sort of etiquette for hunting. Announce hunt to your FC, LS, and shout channels, chill out for a few minutes while you all party up, and when a large crowd forms, pull, 1-2 minutes later, dead, gold, seals, everyone is happy.
Now, with the massive increase of interest in hunts and the buff in rewards, said crowd of the aforementioned size can form in a matter of seconds, not minutes, and the hunts die so fast that most players don't even realize most of them actually have mechanics to work with and aren't just big mobs with a ton of HP.
Thus, complaining of early pulling. "I used to make it for all the hunts, which one of you dickwads keeps pulling as soon as someone shouts it?" "What, am I supposed to wait for the whole server to show up." "Yes." Because that's kinda what we did before.
Hunting was so easy I was building seals faster than soldiery. I got most of my Evenstar from the seals! So, I do think it's more of an issue that hunting is suddenly so much harder based on how fast you can get there.
Me and my LS have become so disenchanted, that we are more or less giving up on hunts until they die down a bit. I feel like things will start to even out after a few weeks.
