BTW, my first ever reddit post XD
Good morning everyone! (or evening to those),
Let me start off by explaining who I am, and why I think this is an important idea. I am a player that is stuck between the "Hardcore Raider" and "Casual Gamer" monickers. What I mean by this is that I spend enough time learning boss fights and their mechanics, and spend time practicing them, but I am one with out a proper Static to actually clear them. No matter the amount of knowledge you have about a fight, you cannot clear the bosses without 6-7 other players with similar knowledge and the actual experience to do so.
The idea is to have an option for a "Fragmented Instance" that allows you to play, with random players or a premade group, certain phases of the fight. For example, one of the most difficult parts of Turn 5 is the dreaded Divebomb phase (an twister phase, lawl). Many people suffer from lag that cause them from getting hit, so we will leave them out since that is server issue and not player issue. The one thing that sucks about practicing the divebomb phase is going through Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the fight (with wipes and running back, can take between 5-7 minutes). These phases are really simple and most people who want to clear Turn 5 know how to complete them. Oh boy, but them divebombs.
Here is an example of the the idea: Let's say we have a party trying to clear T5, but people keep wiping on Divebombs. The party trying to clear T5 can que specifically for the Divebomb phase. How would this work? The tank would pull Twintania, she will do no attacks for 5 seconds allowing the tank to position her where should would be positioned in the real fight. Nuerolink breaks, and the divebomb phase begins. The phase will end under 2 condition: (1) everyone dies, and (2) everyone successfully makes it past the divebombs. As for phases like this that have an overlapping phase, the appearance of the snakes, the snakes would be part of a different phase to practice run (Snake Phase or Phase 4). There would be no rewards for this, because the reward is getting to practice a specific phase. A possible reward could be an achievement that you have competed it (worth 0 points, but you can show people that you did in-fact clear that phase). And since this is a fragmented instance made for practicing, and would Duty-Finderable, I think 4 players would be a minimum to enter. And also, let's say 4 players are already practicing DBs, and someone ques for DBs, guess what, they can join in if the party leader allows.
So what is this about the Statics and being a raider? Well, one thing that many statics look for is knowledge AND experience of fights. The last thing they want is to spend time carrying people through fights. Having a system that allows you to practice specific parts of raids would allow you to slowly gain experience of certain mechanics at a much more reasonable pace. And I believe this would help those trying to break into end-game-raiding the opportunity to do so. I believe this would eliminate the "I can't practice twisters, because I can never make it past diverbombs" excuse.
I understand that this might not be a perfect system, and that there could be tweaks here and there, but I also don't understand how this would be harmful to the game either. Hope to hear everyone's opinion on this.
