Sometimes i wana leave a duty, but never do it...

I was running bray normal with a tank that had just over 1k hp. Its a lvl 34 dungeon and he was wearing a lvl 15 body piece. Rest of hes stuff was lvl 20-28. He didn't have pld unlocked either.

Early on I noticed hes hp drop extremely fast, which caused me to check him. Well the rest of the dungeon was a nightmare.

I play a healer and our dps's had 1300hp and were holding up better then the tank.

We ended up using the whole time and somehow managed to get to final boss though, but sometimes I wonder if I should just give in and leave in that situation. We wernt able to finish it.

Anyone else ever wonder what to do and end up just toughing it out like I do?

That's a tough situation... You can't really say anything or leave or you end up looking like the 'asshole'. However a person playing a "TANK" should understand the importance of having sufficient gear to actually take the damage he or she is supposed to be taking. I honestly wouldn't have known how to handle that situation either... just sat there until it finally ended and vent my frustrations to a friend or two =/

He may not have known about the job quests or the importance of getting them done, if he was a new player. I'd probably have just mentioned it to him along with a suggestion to keep his gear up to date and that it would really make things easier for him. If it makes you feel better you can just ask if he wouldn't mind you making a suggestion, and if he doesn't accept your offer or he's rude to you and you aren't holding out any hope of getting through the run, well, some people are hardheaded enough that the only way they'll learn is if others leave or a vote abandon goes through and it gives them a reality check. Offering advice would be the best that you could do in that situation though, I don't know of anything more that you could have done outside of just dropping the instance.

Leveling a healer class myself right now and honestly, I don't know how some tanks/healers get by without updating their gear regularly. I have a tough time in some parties with level-appropriate hq/dungeon-drop gear and food, anything less would drive me crazy. :P

You have my respect for your patience. I am trying to be patient and I think that FFXIV really improved that part of my personality but I think I wouldn't be able to stay whole 90 minutes if I saw it wasn't going to happen.

I remember having a tank like that once(also at brayflox), After three wipes to the last boss I ended up putting skull sunder and foresight as my cross classes and my tank accessories on my monk after we decided I should tank. It wasn't as bad as the multiple times I've had to heal on black mage, but it isn't something I'd want to do again voluntarily .

I always promise myself this is the last time I put up with this, I won't compromise next time. But that queue time...

Well... the first few dying should already gives you the idea of something's amiss. Just check his/her gear after, and when you find a significant disadvantage on gear department, you can tell him to gear up more and how (in the nicest way possible), then leave the duty and re-enter since it's really obvious how things go if you still try to continue the run.

I had a similar situation once, in Brayflox.

Marauder tank, low HP, no tomahawk, no flash, no provoke, crafting accessories, low level armor, didn't know the purpose of any of his abilities (He pretty much pressed what he felt like pressing at one moment or the other), didn't know how to talk in party chat and seemed to have been carried through all the dungeons before.

White knight healer who was pretty much acting like he was hoping that the tank was a very hot woman in real life that would date him if he was nice to her, complimenting the tank on ANYTHING, "You used a cooldown, GREAT JOB! I've never seen a tank use a coolodown like you just did!" and more crap like that.

Stuck at Aiatar with no possibility of killing him since the tank dies within 15 seconds. I hadn't said anything up to this point. I initiated vote abandon since there's 20 minutes on the clock, it fails so I request to be kicked out. This angered the white knight healer who unleashed his fury on me for giving up on his tank crush and blames me for the wipes, even though I tanked Aiatar every time the tank died and survived much longer than he ever did. The hostility of the healer scares off the tank and he prefers to leave.

I toughed it out until we got to a brick wall, but I really hate carrying tanks. They get to high level content and fail so hard then are like "It's not my fault, it's everyone else's fault!"

WoW, at least when I played, did not have timers... lol - you can really waste your time in one of those. I feel like the timer is a godsend, I don't like leaving people but sometimes you know its just not going to happen.
