    Chocobo ADD...

    I can only imagine that this isn't necessarily working as intended...

    If you attack something, your chocobo attacks it until the enemy dies or you give your choco another command.

    For ACR/SMN pets, the pet will continue to attack each new enemy that you've attacked since then, even after the current enemy dies. It will even attack enemies who have attacked you, regardless of whether or not you've attacked it.

    In the choco's case, after the enemy it was attacking dies, it will then sit there and do nothing until you actually attack an enemy while it was unoccupied.

    This is especially annoying when you go to heal yourself after you've just killed one enemy but another is still attacking you: your chocobo will stand there watching as the enemy attacks you.

    Is this working as intended or should the chocobo have the same AI that combat pets do?

    Put it on Defender Stance if you want it to attack something attacking you after it kills one. Chocobos aren't summoned caster pets, they don't use the same UI.

    Defender stance is for chocobos that has specced in tank abilities it doesn't affect their AI

    and yes I agree with OP, if I'm spamming holy as a healer my chocobo will not do anything until I cast a single target attack.
    But then again there is so much wrong with chocobos that I feel like they gave up on it

    Oh gods, yes, this is a problem. To get around this, I cast aero on something I need him to attack after he's killed something, but it becomes bothersome to do this again and again, and to just have him watch me, staring at me, as I do all of the work.

    Yeah....that doesn't work how you think it does... It just tells it to pick abilities from Defender spec. It does not actually "defend" you if you're attacked.
    Just to make sure, I went out in the field and at no point did chocobo attack something unless I attacked it first - even if I was being attacked.

    Chocobo AI needs reworking to be more like a pet. At the very least the ability to tell it to auto attack, and/or the ability to sic.

    What would be AWESOME though would be the ability to collect gambit actions and create our own gambit system per stance (ff12-style). This would make it even more amazing than a pet , since after all, our chocobos are supposed to be our most trusted companions! Maybe for 3.XX please please please devs?

    If only that worked...

    All I really want is for my chocobo to attack everything I've attacked.

    If I've dotted 3 monsters, my summon will kill one, then the next, then the next.

    If I do that with my choco, he'll kill the first one and sit there doing nothing, even if the dots are still ticking, until I actively attack something while he has nothing else going on.

    Like I said, chocobo ADD...

    Hopefully in heavensward they will make the chocobo AI into a more in-depth system, something like the Gambit systems in FFXII or even just using macros, that give pre-determined behaviors under certain conditions. When they do release solo-able dungeons I'm sure most people will go in with their chocobos (unless SE finds a way to mess that up) and it would be great to have a chocobo that can do more than just sit in aoes and die.

    Also since chocoboc take up a party slot they don't share the same attributes or actions as pets so its basically like a having an afk scholar /follow you in satsaha. Useless and annoying.

    All that would be great, but I'd be happy with the bird just moving on to the next aggroed enemy after the last one dies, heh...
