I don't want to see a situation where people are equipping for example NQ Crab Bows to turn them into materia for their +2s and +3s because you can get good enough materia that way, that's a boring system and forces people to use low quality gear to gain materia. However it should still be an option for people who are content without having the best gear. What I'd like to see is something like the following...
SE have stated they want crafted items to be the best of the best when it comes to gear, and this is exactly what we're seeing when the verdant weapons from the Dezmael Darkhold are outclassed by crafted +3s and even +2s in some cases. So why not combine raids with crafting?
For example me wanting the best bow in the game, I don't just settle for a Crab Bow +3, stick in materia from an NQ Crab Bow and ignore the shiny new Verdant Bow and not bother trying to obtain one. If I want the best I need to obtain both. I need to turn that Verdant Bow into the best piece of materia in the game and attach it to a Crab Bow +3. That keeps raid weapons valid in a game where +3 crafted weapons outclass them.
Now for the player who doesn't have a tonne of gil to buy +3 Crab Bows they can keep the Verdant Bow because it's not a bad weapon, they can go attach their NQ Crab Bow to it.
I hope Yoshi has put as much thought into the system to make it fun and rewarding, you end up with a crafting system that makes DoW/M content more relevant as well as crafting. Making it easy to get the best materia such as the first example of turning an NQ Crab Bow into materia would just be a huge fail.
