    The Integrity of Old Content in Heavensward

    As I look forward to the expansion, I'm wondering if this game will follow the trend of the traditional MMO and make a large amount of the current "end-game" instances obsolete.

    Beyond mounts and minions for a very select few dungeons and trials, what would draw people to these encounters in the expansion? We know the Primals are coming to and end along with Crystal Tower and Coil. There will no longer be a reason to continue this line to unlock the next tier. Certain dungeons (up to Stone Vigil) will be required by story, but what about the numerous Level 50 dungeons? Pharos Sirius, Lost City of Ampador, Haukke Manor (Hard), ect?

    My question to the community is simple: When the expasion hits, what do you feel will (or want to) happen with Coil, EX Primals, Hard Mode Dungeons, ect?

    I am hoping we'll see some readjustments to the massive amount of level 50 dungeons and they will be reutilized as level 51 - 59 dungeons with proper character level synchs to preserve challenge. A new score of dungeons COULD be added in between or at 60. The gear that drops in these can be scaled to meet with the current Ilvl we have now.

    Ex Primals will have ponies --- But is that enough? With the summons/primals being such a spotlight for Final Fantasy, do we really want to see the difficult incarnations of them just get reduced to nothing?

    1st and 2nd Coil will fail to have any purpose in the expansion. Why run those "raids" when the expansion dungeons may potentially offer equipment of similar ilevel and are easier?

    I guess with new content coming every 3 months (and the large amount of content
    wth it) I will have plenty of things to do. I just hate to see content that I struggled through and enjoyed be wiped away.

    Personally I'm hoping they update the rewards and simply add an ilvl sync that forces you down to a lower ilvl to make the content somewhat competitive.

    The only issue with this would be new skills you obtain and whether you would still have the ability to use them in older content, thereby making it easier. Depending on what new skills there are and how they setup an ilvl sync some of the fights could still present a challenge.

    Simple, they will be kept relevant to do because of the relics for the new jobs and also the new quests for incoming steps. It's bound to happen.

    As for old coils, they will re-use the concept they did for coil1, salvaging stuffs for new materials in order to create vanity / useful crafts.

    That is pretty much the only reason people make parties for them now, since all their gear is already outdated. Pony farms get filled pretty fast on my server.

    Well one thing is for sure ( at least I hope so), going from 50-60, I hope Yoshi-P understands that at this point of the game, we don't need " easy content" anymore. Yes, have casual content, but don't go making Dungeons/Primals/easy, yes even the story ones! The Overworld in Heavensward should be kinda scary to go through. Make the normal enemies feel threatening to the point you may need 2-4 people to back you up.

    Let 1-50 and 2.1-2.5 for the most part be for the people getting into the game understanding the controls/feel of the game etc. Let everything Heavensward onward have hard content, since at this point of the game, we should know what to do when faced against a hard enemy!

    I can't really see any way to keep such content populated. The extreme primals and coil will never be truly PUGable unless they nerf all the 1-shot and instant wipe mechanics so there is really nothing they can do to keep such things popular once the player base moves on. A roulette won't work for coil or the ex primals because a random group will rarely stand a chance even if they hugely outgear the fights.

    The other problem is that adding new rewards to this content will frustrate the players that already spent months farming it as they likely won't be too keen on being forced to farm it even more. It's a no-win situation and ultimately a flaw of the vertical progression design.

    as much as i hope to see something different it will likely be a total CUT to endgame things and start basicly everything anew including the relicquest with a completly new weapon. we will keep our old finished ones but they wont be NEEDED for the new one to keep the new endgame level open to new players. expansions with lvl cap raises serve sadly one purpose on the mmo market. draw in new customers and make em like the new endgame. anyone who still thinks old relic lvl 50 quests are REQUIRED to access new lvl 60 relic or content are blinding themselfs. heavensward will be like a fresh start for everyone and a completly new endgame at lvl 60. i doubt new content will ne made super hard because new players wont have the gear most veterans have then. and its unlikely that the tombstone gear will stay at 50 it will move to 60 with a new kind of tombestone which can only be farmed at 60.

    They might just throw ilvl sync on everything and call it a day. Maybe reuse some of the stuff for something else down the line.

    I join pick up groups in PF all the time and beat EX primals or coil

    This is what bothers me too. I think that it will never be so populated as it used to be but there is a way to motivate players to do it. As someone already said - new crafting materials in coil + mounts from extreme primals (plus they could implement some weekly quest for vanity stuff - killing all EMs like with titan, garuda and ifrit). I think they should synth all old em primals and coil to be like... i130 and lower and make it viable even in heavensward.
