Stop using your main hotbar as a funsie fun time mount and minion bar.

I dont have minions on any of my hotbars. dont see a point.

And why is your non-combat stuff on the primary hotbar? You do realize you're actually setting yourself up for situations like this precisely because the game focuses on that bar, right?

I dont see hotbar 1 as my primary/main hotbar, I only had it in the position it was in because it has the hotbar lock on it. I was using hotbar 1 for my companion chocobo you know to summon, change stances, make him follow you or release him. that left 5 slots which I put mounts into, I have since changed which bar I'm using for that.

I have 2 primary hotbars aside from the pet hotbar and the cross hotbar. as for what I am using those bars for. whatever I want to use them for. just as you get to use as many or as few for whatever you want to use them for.

Wait a second....I haven't been on my SMN or SCH since the patch. If I am understanding correctly, when I summon my lil ones, my Hotbar1 will be replaced with the pet hotbar? If so, DA FUQ?

I use that hotbar for, you know, skills and stuff. I have pet actions macro'd to different slots, because I micro them most of the time. If this is the case, that will not be good. I am going to have to check this out tonight for sure.

Please say it ain't so and it pertains to mounts only.....and if it is, DEVS --- MAKE IT OPTIONAL

OK but it's important to understand that the way the game is organized, they're going to be futzing with that hotbar a lot. They're definitely not going to be disabling the current change when it comes to things like battlements, which something tells me will have a measure of importance when they add airships and flying mounts to the game.
So while your field mount such as the magitek armor or the goobbue will probably get a passing fix, it's important to note that your specific playstyle runs counter to what the developers take into account when they make changes to the game. You will continue to have issues such as this so long as you use Hotbar 1 for non-primary features.

You got 6 hotbars that go horizontal. Rearrange your hotbars, done. There's your quick fix. As this update was unnecessary to me as well since I have the petbar enabled, I just adjusted to the change.
