New to FF14 and to THM

So i stared playing few days ago, and i create a THM, people been telling to get to 30 then level archery to 15, to make him a Black Mage.. is this a good idea?

Once i make him a Black Mage do i need to level that from lvl 1? and whats the benefit of being a black mage?

Black Mage is a job. You dont need to lvl it.

Black Mage gets more INT and job specific spells that the THM cannot have.

Theres no reason to not become a black mage

No u don't have to level Black Mage. Once u finish your THM questline at lv.30, u will get your soulstone. Equip it and u will become a Black Mage lv.30
Any exp u get as THM will be shared to your BLM and vice versa

and the archer needs to be leveled to 15 becuase it's blm's secondary class
arcanist is blm's tertiary

the reason you level up secondary (beyond needing 15 to unlock job) and tertiary is so you can cross class some of their skills

for example, raging strikes (level 4 archer i think) is highly desirable for blm
eye for an eye (arcanist 34 i think) and virus (arcanist 8 i think) are also commonly cross classed by most blm

All that becoming a BLM does is give you access to a few more skills (they are extremely powerful so it is always a good idea). You will still keep all of your THM abilities. The level of your BLM will always be equal to the lvl of your THM. When you level up one, the other follows. Going to BLM is the right idea and is expected of all players. Your BLM will also be able to use cross class abilities from ACN, so it is probably a good idea to level it up a little bit. That will get you a useful healing spell (physick) and some good buffs and debuffs

blm can use physick (which is exactly the same as cure 1, but is from acn instead of cnj)
grab it if you want, but know that the higher level you get, the less useful it will be, and it is your job to kill enimies, not to heal your party
that said, its often appreciated to toss in a heal(and a res if youre smn) on rare occasion when the healer is getting overwhelmed

I have Physick crossed. It helps for soloing enemies or low level dungeons in which Healers die. I remember in Ifrit Hard, me and another BLM were keeping the tank up, taking turns attacking.

Fire 1 > Physick > Fire etc
Physick > Fire 1 > Physick etc
