Nero's fate discussion {SPOILER!}

I think he tossed that scanner at the end because he already gained enough first hand knowledge and experience within the dark world, making it almost useless. Or it could have been his way of paying Cid back so he'd owe him nothing.

From the context of his words it felt more like he no longer wished to seek power with the method he was using and rather than rely on anything including a device that could find power he decided that he would do it all on his own and follow this own path that isn't decided by anyone but himself.

All I know is that they would never have gone to the effort of having us/Jesus!Cid save him if he wasn't playing a part later, and I am super excited for this. I hope that he does take on the Vegeta-type role and continues to pop up here and there. Frienemies for the win. I'm kind of sad he decided to go on some soul-searching journey though. Think of what Eorzea could do with two competing genius Garlean engineers... And Nero has way better fashion sense; he should design our next gearsets. XD

I kinda felt that the darkness on Nero had absolutely no purpose in story and was absolutely unnecessary. It could have much more space in the story..

I think it was meant to be a symbolism event to show how Nero's inner darkness that had consumed him for so long was finally lift.

That's true. But like, where better to soul search than hanging out with the Warrior of Light and doing good things for the country that you almost flattened with Ultima? I guess he hasn't had that big of a change of heart. XD In the end though, I kind of feel like Square sent him away only so he can have Big Damn Heroes moment later on--or a dramatic reveal of a new raid or something down the road. I hope we see more of him than just a few short questlines though; seems like an awful waste to go through all the effort to save him and give him all these cutscenes for him to show up only once in a great while in the future.

Well Nero is more of a Anti-Hero now since his morals are still placed in a dark alignment place. He selfish and he knows it very well but his selfishness is what most likely may be what drives him to be our ally in the future.

Not to mention his final words does say that when ever Cid needs help he will certainly be there to slap Cid back into place.

Nero was always my favourite villain so far. Not only is he dashingly gorgeous, but he's also had the most character development so far. It's been an absolute joy watching his progress and I find myself genuinely looking forward to his scenes.

When I saw my precious Nero covered in crystals, I thought they were going to give him a tragic heroes death. I was overjoyed when he was cured and made his way back to Eorzea. I hope to see a lot more Nero in future story updates, and see how he progresses. I think he's going to be one of the heroes in the end, and that's just fine with me.

This. Just. All the time. Cid's like "Oh man guys, serious mystery with some important Allagan technology and I'm working hard to figure it out!" And Nero just walks out of the shadows: "No need. I figured it out stuff this simple when I was twelve." Cue a hundred cutscenes ending with Cid's grumpy face. I would never get tired of something like that. XD

I definitely agree with Lemuria too--I am really excited to see where he pops up in the future, be it as an anti-hero, actual straightforward ally, or even as that quirky not-so-evil villain that everyone loves.

Well, I mean, he looks pretty much just like "Spike" from BtVS. So of course he is following the path of Dark Anti-Hero who turns out to have a heart of Platinum
