Deepvoid Deathmice: what's the story behind this?

Hey lorefans!

So I've been searching around for the explanation behind the Deepvoid Deathmice name, which I've always found pretty... unlikely. I'm pretty sure there's lore behind this in some quest, levequest or random NPC dialogue, and I'm even more confident the story behind the name must be quite fun and stupid (à la Hamon?). So, if you've got any piece of lore, provide it here!

This is one of those times you can't trust what the UI tells you. The "deepvoid" deathmouse is just what some superstitious Gridanians call it because there's no way a mouse could get that big! Unless, you know, Calamity. The THM and BLM quests come to mind, as well, for times certain mobs are claimed to be from the void when they likely aren't.

Considering they're only found near Amdapor Keep, they could be mice somehow affected by the Void.

I thought about something like that, yeah; my other idea was a rumor-based exaggeration where the story of someone killing a pretty big doormouse got transformed progressively in to mice of death which were directly out of the void!
