Retainer Level XVI Ventures

How do you get 420 gathering on your DoL retainers so they can do level XVI ventures? I could put forager's gear on them, but that's pretty expensive especially considering that they bring back so much junk. (and yes, they all ready have max melded AF gear plus the forager's hat and tool) Is there another way that I'm just not seeing?

Check Ariyala if you need to meld more to attain that number; if not then yes, foragers are required.

If you have a Botanist retainer with fully melded Botanist Gear, the Forager's mainhand, and Dodore jewelry/belt/etc; and everything is MAX melded for Gathering... You get exactly 419 Gathering.

419! Are you kidding me, SE? You are forcing me to put melded forager's gear (at least one piece) or a Supra on my RETAINER just to get the XVI Ventures? Nuts to that!

Clue: Retainers only use the gathering stat. iL 70 accessories can take GGM III for an extra 5 gathering over iL 55 gathering accessories.

Define "properly"? If we had to get our battle class retainers to ilvl 121+, would we then see people making a huge fuss over this? I am willing to bet 'yes', and simply put... that is essentially what this is (except for gathering classes). You have to get some of the absolute top gear and meld it out. Why can't SE just be consistent when dealing with battle class and gathering class requirements when dealing with retainers?

(I could ask why SE can't be consistent between gatherers and battlers as a whole... but that is an entirely different discussion)

I agree it's odd that there does seem to be a discrepancy between DoW/DoM and DoL's in terms of difficulty in attaining the rare reward status for a retainer. However I'd rather see the DoW/DoM's put to the same level of difficulty as the gatherer's. I would enjoy the challenge of that, and it would really make you appreciate when you hit that rare item status, rather than just slapping some easily attainable i90 gear onto a retainer and calling it a day.

Use rose gold accessories instead, non gathering types. Fisher does this since they dont use GP.

You can meld 5 gathering instead of 4. This will net you an extra 5 gathering.

Also if you are a fisher and have ironworks rod you can give one to your retainer and then buy another at the calamity salvager.
