PS3 trial and regular play

If I download the 14 day free trial for my wife, can I use the downloaded client on my psn account to play on my character?

I assume by the fact that you're asking, that your own account is on a platform other than PS3 now. If you've got a PC or PS4 only account, then you can't play it on PS3 unless you buy a PS3 version and add it to your account. Though the actual software download could be shared between accounts, purchase of the game is separate for each. And if you've already got an active account, you're not eligible for the free trial that your wife could get setting up a new account, so yours would have to be a paid copy.
