You had me lift an eye brow at one part of the main scenario. You had the best chance to raise my hopes just a tad with one of the dumb scions, and blew that right out the window.
You just showed me how little effort you put into the main scenario, and making the characters painful to watch.

When Moenbryna died what was I supposed to feel for this character who was barely present in the game? Her death was so pathetic, it would have meant something had you know, the other characters actually responded to her death. No, you screw it all up by everyone getting over with it in the next cutscene, practically.

Had Urianger fell to the ground, pulled his hood and glasses off, and wept maybe I would felt some pity for him. Or maybe one of the other scions that had been here the whole time bit the dust I would felt something of joy cause it would been about god damn time something interesting happened. or if Minifilia died I would have ran around the streets naked jumping for joy.

You had you shot to do something interesting, now I will never be interested the main scenario, unless it involves anyone not related to the scions, or grand companies. Great job, feel proud of yourselves for that one developers... take 5 minutes to come up with this scenario?

Did I pay attention to his voice? Why yes I did! He sounded mildly distressed, but couldn't understand what he was saying.

The tone of his voice was slightly different. You could tell he was trying to hold back his sadness. He isn't the type to cry while there are others present, which is why he wanted to mourn Moenbryda's death alone.

You could hear the tremble in his voice when he first walked into the room. At least I did.
Also many people react like this when struck with sudden pain and grief. I would do the same in his stead I think. Toughen it up in the start and then cry it out alone somewhere later.
That scene made my eyes tear up a little when I heard Uriangers voice when he announced he'd overheard.

I could hear his voice (Then again it was in English so), I was expecting more. And it's hard to feel bad for a character that shows up for a few scenes then dies. I have no attachment to the scions/gcs, I would very much like there to be.

Look at Markiplier's playthrough of "To the Moon" It's 2d and it's not very long. But the main character you go through his life learning all his tragedies and happy moments.

He had a twin brother who died when he was young. I have a twin brother, and so thinking about what life would be like if he died tomorrow hurts. I now have an attachment to his character so when the doctors simulated what his life was like with his brother as if he never died I cried myself to sleep that night.

The main scenario, has terrible npc to character relations. It's just we accept what they ask. No real time for backstory or what not. It's infuriating/sad when they drop new characters and you're going "oh they'll be dead or a traitor soon"

But hey, for me, that scene should've fortold the beginning of the fall of the Ascians. And also the fall of the Scions themselves.
But hey, considering the Ascians are also presumably called Scions of Light, you could say that that scene symbolizes the difficulty of killing an Ascian.

All in all, at the end of that scene, I was shocked to see it. But kind of understand why they put it there. It's to show that what Lousioux did in 1.0 is almost the same as Moen. Sacrifice for the greater good.

...And then 2.55 came and I was stuck to the screen until the last of the cutscenes.

Also sideburns Ascian guy stood around explaining his only weakness to everyone.

Minfilia had no clue that the staff was the last piece of the puzzle to killing Ascians.

"You seriously don't know how powerful that staff is? It could kill me easily. Well I will be leaving then... oh crap."

Not trying to be a downer, I love the story of this patch, it's just that some things happen too conveniently.
