Hello all,

I have some concerns about the Chocobo system being implemented in 1.19 (or 1.19a if it's late).

In an earlier dev post (it might have even been a Yoshi-P post) we were told that Chocobos will be something that everyone will easily be able to afford, specifically, even players under rank 20. If someone can provide a link to the exact post, that would be greatly appreciated.

On to my concern:
I feel that making Chocobos "cheap" is not only going be hugely detrimental to the economy (face it, we need gil sinks, now), but it will also take away from the sense of accomplishment for earning a Chocobo, or Chocobo access. If even players under rank 20 can get them (and you can get from rank 1 - 23 in a day, easily) then we have a real problem with "goals" for the Chocobo system in FFXIV.

I propose that perhaps just "gil" is not a solution to this problem. I would prefer that Chocobo rentals have two requirements, let's say, for example... 10,000g for an hour, and also, you must feed the Chocobo (gyashl greens) periodically or before you rent, where the greens are an "untradable" item that you must hunt for and can't simply just be lazy and buy.

This not only removes some gil from the economy at a reasonable rate, but ensures player participation, and also keeps new players where they should be (lower areas) until they are strong enough (and wealthy enough) to venture into new and more dangerous areas.

SE has led me to believe that we're moving away from easymodexiv to a better, brighter future, but when I see posts like what I mentioned, it makes my faith waiver.

Thoughts?
