    My understanding is he has a pact with Hydaelyn as a protector, he senses that Hydaelyn has become weak due to numerous attempts at assisting us with the Ascian threat. He breaks our "blessing" to stop Hydaelyn from "bleeding out" more energy and assumes the role as the "blessing" to help us all the while keeping an eye on us and the events unfolding.

    hit the nail on the head :P doesnt he apologise for breaking hydaelyns contract more or less??

    and as some1 mentioned i think the dragons are the good guys in this coming war xD
