Pearl Radio

I got the idea of calling it a pearl radio from the Earrings used in the opening movie - which act like walkie talkie radios by the NPCs.

A Pearl Radio (or Ahriman radio, Carbuncle Radio, Toneberry, etc.) would be a crafted item you stick on a table (unless its really big). It would be a clickable item similar to Retainer Bells and some of the Lamps.

Initially, it would have, lets say, 3 stations. The idea is basically, many people don't like the background music of housing, and would like to change it to something else. I propose the radio therefore have two primary functions:
1. an on/off switch
2. change station button

Stations could be various loops of music already in the game, or entirely new music loops made just for the radio. They could also be various Tracks from Previous Final Fantasy Games. People like housing items that actually do something.

According to the subtitle/speech form JP version movie, I believe the Earrings actually are LinkShells,
not sure if EN version gave another desciption for this item. ^^;

The earrings are linkshells, or actually link pearls. I'm not 100% sure on the xiv lore behind them, but from what I remember in xi linkshells were based around a concept of a seashell that could produce magical pearls that would enable players to communicate over great distances, hence the name linkshell. Even though free companies are the main guild-like grouping in xiv, from what I can see of how the pearls are used in cutscenes I'm pretty sure this or a very similar description was carried over from xi.

I'm not sure exactly how the radio idea would fit into that, but I do like the idea of being able to play my choice of music or even create a playlist within a certain area, like inside a private room or a house.

But about that radio. With the link to XI. Quite late into the game (3 years ago?) they implemented an "Orchestrion" a jukebox lookalike furnishing and you could quest (or win in the bonanza thingy?) all sorts of music sheet key items.With those in your posession you could play various songs in your moghouse and by clicking the jukebox furnishing you could switch them around.

Considering an old game like XI even had that it shouldn't be a big deal implementing one into XIV? *hinthintSEdoyouhearme*
