    Dragon Kick uptime question.

I recently got my MNK to 50, and I'm a bit lost on what times I want this up.

My thing is...I'm not really sure who does blunt damage, so I don't know who this debuff is helping damagewise.

I know it also reduces the enemies INT by 10%, so that's something to keep in mind.

Basically though, do I want this up all the time? Only when I have certain jobs in my party? Especially on caster mobs?

I need some advice with this. Thanks.

Only monks and Ifrit-Egi do blunt damage. So basically only helps monks, but you want to keep it up all the time as it is a large increase in damage for you since all your damage is blunt except for DOTs.

damagewise DK only helps monks. But since it reduces your opponents int by 10% the whole party would benefit from the reduce dmg on magic attacks. And yes I have DK 99 % of the time and if you can help it try not to loose it on boss. I switch back and flank rotations on monk so DK doesn't fall off.

Many boss special attacks are magic based -- more so than physical. So that INT debuff can matter a lot on a hard fight.

For example, t13 minimum HP required for everyone is a bit less with DK than without.

On less challenging fights, the INT part doesn't matter much. The dmg part others have commented. =)

All great advice and tips I appreciate all the responses.

I guess I might as well ask here..what would be my starting rotation on a boss assuming I pop PB on the pull?

Don't forget that books do blunt damage as well, say in fights with no movement like T8 or T11 where your summoner can activate his auto attacks it will slightly bump his DPS.

Anyways, like others mentioned, you should keep Dragon Kick up for as long as you can since it buffs ur DPS quiet a bit. And if you have another monk, you should agree with him who will apply Dragon Kick, since one dragon kick will overwrite the other... so the non-dragon kicker monk uses bootshine instead and gets a big DPS boost.

The most commonly used one is:

[Shoulder Tackle] -> Touch of Death -> Perfect Balance (wait until your GCD clock thing is over half way done, activating it ASAP can cost you a precious half second at the end as the Perfect Balance animation is very quick) -> Demolish -> Blood for Blood -> Snap Punch -> Internal Release -> Snap Punch -> Howling Fist -> Dragon Kick -> Steel Peak -> Twin Snakes (PB ends) -> Bootshine -> True Strike -> Demolish -> Dragon Kick -> Twin Snakes -> Snap Punch etc etc

    Without off-gcds it looks like:
Touch of Death (PB) - Demolish - Snap - Snap - DK - Twin Snakes (PB ends) - Boot - True - Demolish* - DK - Twin - Snap

*depending on skill speed it may be better to do Snap here and Demolish in the next Coeurl form

If you activate PB too quick between cooldowns (it's animation is fast) and/or your skill speed is a bit low then you might miss that last Twin Snakes. If it's consistently an issue, or you know you won't get all 5 GCD moves in, then use Twin Snakes instead of Dragon Kick.

Demolish refresh at 4 or less seconds left (otherwise Snap), Touch refresh at 3 or less seconds left

I have seen another PB opener posted which could potentially be slightly better, though I haven't seen any solid evidence on whether it's better or not yet.

Actually Caster Autoattacks are blunt too. Just saying.
