Pretty much this. If someone found a hunt, it's theirs to claim as they please. It's a courteous thing the do when people hold the mob and wait for every single last person in Eorzea that wants to join in, but it's not a requirement by any means.

If someone else pulls it before anyone else intended to engage it, then it is what it is. No one HAS to wait for everyone else, even if it is the "nice" thing to do.

THANK YOU FINALLY some one other than me has said it. And yes we have been here so many times before SE must have been on something if they thought this was a good idea again just put the stuff in world of darkness with a weekly lock out of gear lock. There problem solved.

From personal experience, it doesn't work most of the time, and it's kind of aggravating to see it happen with S ranks -you- have spotted and shouted about.
Besides the lag spikes you can get from all those people suddenly converging on the same area, marks die so quickly that people sometimes won't simply be able to answer your request if someone just happened to pull the target.

IMHO, it just feels plain wrong to see an S rank gone in under a minute and even A ranks with smart moves (Marraco, Maahes with its petrifying/paralyzing attacks, Hellsclaw come to mind) getting utterly destroyed in less than thirty seconds, and all the while the targeting is coming and going (or just plain failing) because of the load.

Anyway, at this rate the herd should get their carbontwine soon and move on. Please look towards it, I guess?... I suppose we gotta stay positive, and at the very least dungeons cannot be swarmed.

Heh the last three S ranks I've seen died in ONE hit apiece from the zerg of players around it. I got a hit in on each and being only on a level 35 class at the time, and not in a group, I only got a bare minimum of seals. But I still got some.

Haven't tried poking at S ranks with a lower classed job, but in regard to those one hit kills - I'm sure it's technically possible if the mob gets low enough on the priority chain and there's enough instantaneous firepower to mow it down... and given the size of the horde at peak times, even on Excalibur, I can believe it. The poor boss won't even get to whip out a counter (pray the server doesn't keel over, of course).
