Amazed at all the people that don't want fantasy in their Final Fantasy. I want my flaming swords to be on fire, and my ice swords to sparkle with frost. I like the idea of weapons hitting with magic effects, but this I'd like to stick to mage weapons. (Thunder Brand occasionally casting Thunder and the like.)

That's different from glowing weapons. The weapons you've mentioned have already been present in past games e.g. FFX, the prime example being Brotherhood. That's fine. It's the continuous glowing neon, and refusing to shut off, and bright, fluro colouring, that people are against. People don't want the extremes; your version is acceptable, because it does not detract from the overall aesthetic appeal, and may add to it. But having the entire weapon glow....or glowing gear....that is just....destructive.
