Please no. While I would apprecite the ability to customize weapon appearance SLIGHTLY, I don't want lightsabers.
Amazed at all the people that don't want fantasy in their Final Fantasy. I want my flaming swords to be on fire, and my ice swords to sparkle with frost. I like the idea of weapons hitting with magic effects, but this I'd like to stick to mage weapons. (Thunder Brand occasionally casting Thunder and the like.)

I swear its like you guys are only commenting about the glow an not reading about the particle generation i wrote down ,in the 3rd paragraph i just now bolded it also i'm not trying to suggest neon sticks i'm trying to suggest that we can see our element dripping off the weapon or something like it some type of graphical addition to having element status added on the weapon even if it is for only battle regimens or weapon skill i never said those were bad ideas
I vote a big fat no for this. FFXIV has an awesome aesthetic appeal with it's weapon/armor designs, and I would absolutely hate to see that artwork go to waste by slapping huge random glows on the weapons. I like being able to actually see the details of my weapons and armor, thank you very much.
I'd rather see realistic weapons, not ones where they're glowing with the power of a thousand suns. Take that sh*t to Lineage 2 and Aion, please.
The least I'd permit in regards to weapons glow, would be a very, VERY subtle glow for the materia itself. No more, no less.
We don't want our weapons emitting ANYTHING. That stuff is what we're against, too. Dude, just drop it.I swear its like you guys are only commenting about the glow an not reading about the particle generation i wrote down ,in the 3rd paragraph i just now bolded it also i'm not trying to suggest neon sticks i'm trying to suggest that we can see our element dripping off the weapon or something like it some type of graphical addition to having element status added on the weapon even if it is for only battle regimens or weapon skill i never said those were bad ideas
The aesthetics of Final Fantasy never dictated that we have particle emitters or glows on our weapons unless it's ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY NECESSARY to telling the story.
And it isn't necessary now, and it will never be necessary.
End of discussion.
where in the thread did i ask for it to be so bright it could be the light house for limsa as i stand in gridania ?I'd rather see realistic weapons, not ones where they're glowing with the power of a thousand suns. Take that sh*t to Lineage 2 and Aion, please.

even if its a materia glow only id be psyched for that
an besides this game is no where near good enough to be called final fantasy <notice the lower case
Eh. I still don't like the idea of it. Maybe as a glowmap for the materia object itself, that would be acceptable, but I imagine that will require making new model variations of every weapon known in XIV to be able to present that.where in the thread did i ask for it to be so bright it could be the light house for limsa as i stand in gridania ?

So I doubt any glow will actually be added, if at all. Maybe a glowmap on the edges of the weapon...who knows, but I still think glows and any other extraneous graphical elements should not be utilized.
Also, I'm sure there's a LOT of content that Yoshi-P is intentionally holding back behind those floodgates, for an expansion. There are a lot of zones that have been hinted at, but not revealed. One of those is Ishgard.
Glows and materia making weapons shiny with light, why do we even need them when our weaponskills(most of them) are already flashy enough? Has anyone tried looking at simian thrash? :P
Nah... On a serious note, Final Fantasy XIV's charm has been how realistic the world and equipment is, sure it's a fantasy game, but that certainly gives off a certain appeal that flowery ka and elemental magic coursing through a weapon would kinda ruin.... XD
Edges idk man how would that look on a spear either way i'm just asking for some type graphical add-on when we argument an element on the weaponEh. I still don't like the idea of it.
